I just went up into the tree house for the first time this spring. About half of the wood has mold on it. I climbed back down, found some bathroom cleaner with bleach then went up and sprayed mold until the bottle was empty.

I've never had a problem with mold on wood, and outside, too!

I'd appreciate any insight!

Sorry to say this... but mold on wood is very difficult to get rid of. It can literally live in the cracks, and within the pores of the wood itself. You might have to take it down...

My grandmother's house had this problem, and it was found to even be in the studs of the home. After a year of attempting to get rid of it to sell the house, we finally just leveled it and sold it as an empty lot.

The "backside" of the columns on our front porch used to get mold because they never got any sunlight on them. The last time we painted, we cleaned the columns with some bleach in the pressure washer, then Sherwin Williams put some kind of additive in the paint which prevents mold. Haven't had any problems after that.
