Gridlock in Boston

Outside, traffic is at a standstill and it's past 7pm already. Traffic is worse than last night. The snow storm was days ago and the streets are still a mess.

Looks like I will be getting home really late tonight.

Dw is driving in to work at Beth Isreal, she left early and is going to be way late, she said it hasn't been this bad in years

I wish I could get out into traffic. My driveway is located on a small side street that hasn't been plowed once. I haven't been able to move my car since Saturday. After a countless number of phone calls to Town Hall and the DPW, all I'm being told is that our street is on the list. Grrrr..... I am so aggravated right now.

Alex, your DW will be way late, guaranteed. There will be a domino effect at work too. Those of us who are waiting to leave can't free up parking spaces for those coming in. Even on Red Sox game days it isn't this bad.

She was supposed to be there at 7, she is STILL sitting in traffic, she got off the expressway at 615 and it's normally what a 15 minute ride? It's just insane, far worse than yesterday

DH made it home from Needham ok tonight but his 38 mile drive took 3 hours this morning! Needless to say, his mood is a little on the foul side tonight!

Boy I wish you guys had my husband's luxury of the train. He has been a professional for 20 years now, fought the Rte. 128 traffic for years and years. He now has a job five minutes from South Station on Congress St. We live on the south shore, 35 minutes to get to work, like clockwork...its a wonderful thing.

Pardon my ignorance, but is this gridlock all because of snow?

We don't get snow here, so I've no conception of what it must be like.

A lot of the gridlock comes from snow and a lot of it just happens every day because of all of the people trying to leave Boston at the same time everyday. Since there was so much snow at one time it's hard to put it somewhere...a lot of roads are narrower because of snow banks on the side of the road. My roommate works in Boston and she called me while she was stuck in traffic...it took her a couple hours to get home.
