Hi all. DW and I visited WDW 10 years ago in 11/99 shortly after we were married. My work sent me to a seminar -- and the World was an after thought. We spent three days parkhopping and thorougly enjoyed ourselves. But, I remember thinking I would not want to visit during the summer and fight the crowds.
Now ten years later, we have two little ones - DD 8 and DS 6. We've visited DL a couple of times (it's an 8 hour drive from home) and the kids have been begging to return. So, we thought we'd go back this fall. But, then we saw the ads for the 4/3 promo, got WDW fever, and pulled the trigger for August. It was our only choice with schedules and school.
When DW & I visited in 99, we didn't plan at all. Now that I've got kids, I want them to have as much fun as possible!! And I'm worried about heat and crowds in August. So, I started googling and what did I find? The DIS boards. It quickly became apparent that there are a million details to consider. I'm finding that anticipating is tons of fun - it's just somewhat overwhelming and addictive at the same time.
So anyway - thanks to all the posters. It's a blast reading your hints, suggestions, reports, and all.
BTW - DW and I aren't telling the kids yet. It's kind of like anticipating Christmas.
So - any hints or tips for helping the kids, DW and I survive the heat and the crowds in August? Thanks!

But if it wasn't bearable we wouldn't be there with a park full of people who also pick August for their vacation!!

We usually stay in the parks, if we make it there early morning, until noon ,that's when the heat of the day becomes intense, and head back to the hotel for a swim,a nap,or both!!
Then around dinner time we usually head back to the park because the sun is going down and it starts to cool a little!! Makes the parks a little more bearable and they are usually open later at night in August!!
