Greetings from a Disney World veteran and character hunter.

My wife (member imLissy) has been coming to this board since I met her in 2005, and I've always heard about the DISboards from her. Back then I had only gone to Disney World twice in 1990 and 1991, so I knew very little about DIsney except from a child's perspective. Our first trip together was in 2008, and 7 trips to WDW later, I finally decided I've become enough of a Disney aficianado to join here myself.

This October will be our first trip to Disneyland California, so we're looking forward to a whole new experience.

On our first trip, I enjoyed the idea of doing a sort of a scavenger hunt for characters as a way to enjoy walking around the parks rather than just rushing from ride to ride. It's become a major part of our trips now. We especially like getting pictures with any characters we don't have, and Disney does provide quite a lot of them to find!

I'm not sure which forum would be appropriate to share character pictures, but I might as well put some of my favorites in here. I'd love to see anyone else's character photos, too.

We found Launchpad at Camp Minnie Mickey on our honeymoon in January 2010. It was a state of emergency in Florida that trip due to the cold weather because crops were freezing. The Animal Kingdom was practically empty that day.

Across from Launchpad was Clarice. The cast member told us that she is Chip's girlfriend. We had no clue.

We still don't understand what happened with this character. In November 2010 we were passing by the character M&G section in Epcot with Mickey, etc, not planning on going in. Suddenly out of an exit popped the Queen of Hearts. She beckoned us over, and we got someone to take our picture. I don't know why she was there, and it looked like she retreated back inside afterwards.

Epcot world showcase seems to be a good place to find rare ones. Here's Br'er Fox in 2012.

The Queen of Hearts would've terrified me, but that strange(ish) encounter seems fitting for a rare villain!

Yeah, I don't think she's really Chip's girlfriend specifically, but that's what the cast member said. The Queen of Hearts is rather terrifying, but when at the time we felt nothing but excitement. It seemed magical to us, but other people nearby didn't seem to care. I guess when you like character photos you get into a certain mindset.
