Hey fellow DVCers!

I just had this happen to me (last week actually). While booking a ressie for a guest, as the MS Advisor went to book it, another DVCer got it right before us! As it was the last available unit at that resort, we had to waitlist several of our days.

The MS Advisor was apologetic and said she hated when that happens, as she hated to disapoint a member. I asked does this happen often, and she replied at least once a week!

So has anyone else ever lost a reservation, while on the phone with MS, between checking for availability (it was), and actually booking?

Not for DVC, but for ADR's.

FWIW, I have a feeling that happens quite often right at the 7month window, and as more members join....it will certainly happen more often.

no but 2 weeks ago, i was booking airfare, and the fare went from 50 bucks one way (what a killer deal) to 99 one way (still a GREAT deal).

Like Beca, I have lost LOTS of ADRs, but never a DVC ressie. Of course, I rarely book much less than 11 months out anyway.

Sorry, Tony, you're slightly confused about the situation.

The ressie was never available in the first place, but when the greenban ID alarm went off, they all gathered together, put you on speakerphone, and played with you for a while....

I voted 'YES, but only once'

Back in October I was booking a standard view 2 bedroon at BWV at the 7 month mark. It was not day by day, but about 1 week after that point (like 7 months plus 1 week). I remember the CM (nicely) laughed at me for the request. Well, to his surprise all but the last night was available. Just as he was about to waitlist me for that last night, it became available. He was very surprised and celebrated with me verbally how lucky I was. He told me how many points we were using for the booking and all was well.

We received the paperwork several days later and I just checked the dates to make sure they were correct, which they were (I did not check the 'std view' because we had never stayed in a SV resort before and I had simply forgotten).

About 2 months ago I was checking the reservation on line and noticed that they had us booked for preferred view and charged us preferred view points for the unit. Oye. I called MS and eventually got a supervisor. She must have seen that something was not right (either that or I just sounded honest) and refunded me the difference between preffered and SV.

We now have a reservation stating we are in a SV 2 BR villa at our very first BWV stay. MS came through for us!

I've had this happen once. But it was fine; we really liked the room we stayed in.

Wow! Now that would frustrate me. I thought the system would "hold" the potential reservation while the MS CM had it opened up on their terminal.

No, but I've had a night open up while on the phone with MS and not have to wait list it.

I've had this happen too; they initially said it wasn't available, then they were able to put me on hold and "find" a room.

Actually, I have had times when the opposite is true--I've gotten a ressie because someone canceled and the availability popped up on a CM's screen.

not with DVC, but it has happened numerous times with dining CM's making ADR's. I couldn't get Le Celliar because of this in Dec!

I've only been a DVC owner for a year. I've booked 4 trips and haven't had a problem with any.
