Green with envy...

DVC is only selling SSR

to get VWL or BWV you need to go through a resalers

SSR expires in 2054, VWL, OKW, BWV, BCV, HH and VB all expire in 2042 (january).

so you can get SSR for 53 years (nothing will be availability until 3/2005) or you can be the others now for 37years.

your choice!!!

If you want some resellers send me a PM.

Congratulations and Welcome Home soon!!!

hope you Joe enjoy your next 37 years or more at the DVC resort of your choice.

remember with add on you can own at both resorts - VWL and BWV.

you might be surprise at SSR - it is a very upscale place.

Just because you may buy at SSR doesn't mean you ever have to stay there. The only thing is you can book BWV or any other vacation club location at 7 months from your trip. Home resort gives you 11 months. If you're only looking to stay in a studio, you shouldn't have any problems booking at 7 months. I would think it's the 1, 2, and 3 BRs that would go first.

Also, the suggestion of putting the downpayment or paying the whole thing with your credit card is great. DH and I put the $2,000 downpayment on our Disney Visa last year when we bought into the DVC and now have $150 rewards dollars to use on our trip this Sept. (our first trip home). We were lucky enough to have BWV come up when we were looking last year. I would have bought into whatever one was available, though. The option to book any DVC resort makes it worthwhile. We also financed and have the money deducted directly from our checking account monthly. We don't miss it that way. Also there's no penalty for early payoff either.

Congratulations & Welcome Home!

If your flexible with the times you travel you can usually get the resort you want. We bought a resale at OKW (lower price & lower maintenance fee) and have stayed at all the other resorts at the times we wanted cause we go off season.

And you can even travel over to DLP!

When I started reading this thread, my first thought was that you needed to "register" for DVC points for your wedding. Then someone else suggested it. You could still do a DVC Fund, just in case anyone wants to give you a gift. We financed with a credit card too, by paying off our loans (4 contracts) with CC checks at a low fixed interest rate. It will be paid for soon.

I got an e-mail from a resale agent today with lots of OKW and BWV contracts. Looks like asking prices have dropped a little. OKW points are asking around $69 per point, BWV $72 to $73. SSR are $95 through Disney, but they have incentives right now. Hard to say where prices will be in a year. We started buying in 2001 and got our OKW resales closer to $60 per point, hard to believe they have gone up!

If you're travelling in October most years, which is really nice since Food & Wine is all month, you would need 118 points for 8 nights in a preferred view studio. If that's when you travel, you really do need to own where you want to stay, because Oct. reservations go fast at the Epcot resorts, due to F & W. You would need to book 11 months out for that month, but you would have a shot at a Boardwalk view. If standard view is OK, it will only cost you 90 points for 8 nights. So, 150 points should give you plenty of cushion. You might even want to splurge occasionally and get a 1 bedroom!

Good luck with your saving and shopping! Hope to say Welcome Home soon.
