I have seen pictures of this huge green wall in MK in front of the castle. What is this? and will it be gone soon?

It is a green "construction wall," hiding work that is being done on the Hub and Castle Forecourt. It will be gone when the work is done, which is probably sometime in March or April.

:earsboy:

Great. Thanks. I know it looks better than a brown wooden wall and I know it is necessary but I am glad it is due to be gone by the time we go.
:cool1:

that Disney is finally going to put another attraction there?

I've been reading on this board about the green walls around Dumbo, the Castle, and 20K. I suppose Dumbo is getting a rehab, and I know the Castle is getting jazzed up.

But why the walls around 20K? I'm hoping for good news here!

Last week when I was at the MK & looking for a place to sit down to watch the afternoon parade, several CMs told me that area was being leveled. The concrete wall & planters were being taken out. Everything would be at ground level. This goes along with no more benches to sit on near the flag pole at the entrance to the MK. This is very frustrating for guests with disabilities who need a place to sit down once in awhile.

I bet once they are done refurbishing the area they will add in some seating. I know I have enjoyed those benches more than once.

anyone have a picture of this wall? i want to be prepared for its ugliness before i go in march :scared:

ah ok...so it's gross looking...but at least it's not obscuring the castle
i remember being so disappointed when i went to WDW in high school and it was decked out for the 25th anniversary to look like a pink cake....ugh :crazy2:

Oh my gosh - I have been reading the threads about this but in my mind figured it wasn't that bad...glad I took a look at the pictures...it is bad.

We are going Spring Break - over Easter - hope its gone by then!

Being a red sox fan, I am going to start calling the huge green wall...the "green monster" south...anybody with me???

I think the green wall has been updated since those photos were taken. I just got back and I seem to remember it looking better. I think in addition to the lights, the walls had hannging planters and maybe silloutes of characters in a tone on tone green. Maybe there were planters on the ground around it also. I know on either the castle on or the Dumbe one it looked a lot more dressed up, and I think it was on both the walls.

I was there the other day and the walls look the same as in the pictures. There are hanging baskets and lanterns on the walls.

Were there characters dressing up the Dumbo wall then? I'm sure at least one of them had them yesterday, but I didn't pay too much attention.

Leveling it out does not surprise me and really makes sense.
In that area and the one by the Dole Whips in Adventureland it is not uncommon to see kids crawling, climbing/walking/tettering on top of the barriers and running around inside the gardens while stomping on flowers. (While the parents totally ignore or egg them on. A Kodak moment apparently.)
Not long ago we saw one girl doing that with her brother. The girl already had a broken arm. The boy was almost there with a matching cast.
I could see some kid falling and getting hurt, and then the parents file a lawsuit stating Disney's neglect on something.
