Green Shopping Bags -- Settle an argument for me

Is it proper to use a K-Mart bag in Food Lion?

  • I have bags with store names on them, but I'll take them into whatever store I'm shopping at.

  • I have bags for each stores I shop at. You can't take K-Mart bags into Food Lion.

  • I have generic bags without a store name on them. I'm all set.

  • Plastic, please.

  • Other.

When it comes to "green" reusable shopping bags, do you...

Do we what?

I have many, many canvas shopping bags that I use because my late DH brought them home to me years and years ago.. I use them for everything - then just toss them in the washer when they get dirty..:goodvibes

Keep buying more and always forget them in the car? Yes, as a matter of fact I do. How did you know?!

You all are too quick. I was fighting with the stupid poll tool. (Had to keep cutting back the options to get them under 100 characters.) The post apparently hits the board before the poll tool starts.

(And I changed this post 4 times without being quoted. :p )

My shopping bags are from Disney :goodvibes

BUT... I see nothing wrong with taking a Store X bag into Store Y. I wear clothes I bought at Kohl's when I go shopping at Target... same thing!

Just for future reference, sometimes people will post "poll coming" for the text or even the title of the thread until they get the poll actually posted. It does take some time to go through the actual creating of the poll. It helps if you have all your options decided on before you post anything.

I have reusable bags from Kroger, Ikea, Sprouts, Central Market, and Walmart. I like the Central Market and Ikea bags best, so I usually use them no matter what store I'm going into. Kroger credits me 5 cents a bag no matter where it's actually from.

The only store I sometimes purposely get plastic bags from is Target. They have nicer bags than most places, and I use them in my small trash cans.

I am a bad American because I bought into the craze when everyone was doing it..and now, eh, the reusable bags have a home in my closet. I am too lazy to take them out of the closet, put them in my car, take them into the store, un-mash them..and pack my stuff in them. I SHOULD do it, though!!! Luckily, I don't feel that bad..I hardly EVER see anyone use reusable bags anymore. Back when it was all the rage, I would say one out of three people you saw shopping did..now, not so much.

But if I DID use them, I would use them everywhere. I would use a Walmart bag in Target and vice versa.

DH and I argue about this all the time. I have Wegmans and Trader Joe's bags. He refuses to use them in Giant, for example. It drives me crazy! I don't know why I bothered spending the money on the bags when he won't use them wherever he is. It bugs me to no end.

Interesting observation. Around here, I feel like I see more and more people using them each time I'm at the store.

LOL, I'm with your husband. Doesn't look like the early results are going in my favor, though.

I like the ones from the expensive store in our area. I just take them to Walmart and load them up, no big deal. :thumbsup2

I luckily have mostly bags with no store name on them. I use those large freezer bags that are supposed to keep stuff cool for a long time. They fit a ton in it and so they work well for me.

However, on earth day I got a free bag from Walgreens and smuggled it into CVS. When the cashier saw it she said in a joking shocked voice "You brought a Walgreens bag into CVS?!?!?!" I have brought my Walgreens bag to a grocery store and did not hear any comments.

I actually had the poll all written in MS Word, but didn't know about the 100 character limit for the options. Then it became a matter of trying to figure out where Microsoft moved the tool to count characaters in a paragraph using Office 2007. (I want my Office 2003 back!)

I didn't think the post hit until the poll was done. I'll use the "Poll coming" in the future.
