I am trying to come up with something different than what has already been chosen. Supposed to be a lunch item NO DESERTS
so far there is:

pickles, olives, celery, pasta, pizza, salad, homemade bread, some kid of spread on bread

Remember these are first graders so they don't usually like zucchini or asparagus

My brain is on overload and I know my dis friends can help. I tried researching severl site but everything seems to be deserts.

Thanks everyone

You could always put food coloring in mashed potatoes. ;)

Do you think they would eat cole slaw? I know it's more white looking, but it's still kind of green.

Guacamole on chips? I know you can get red and blue chips, but I don't think I've seen green tortilla chips. Hey wait! You could make your own with green tortilla wraps! Or mix a bit of something green into cream cheese & spread on the wraps & make mini roll-ups cut into slices.

Or just cut green apples like Granny Smiths into wedges....

Do you have a place nearby that sells bulk foods? I'm in SE PA and there are many places that have odd things like Wasabi Peas...but that's kind of mean. ;)

We never had to do this with either of our kids so I'm out of ideas now.

How about couscous with coriander and spring onions in it? That's quite green!

Or Caipirini - wait, that would be for the teachers:rotfl:

I'm guessing this may be for St. Patrick's Day?

You can check with local bagel shops and see if any of them sell green bagels on March 17. When my son was younger, we got those, and tinted cream cheese green to go with them!

Can you do jello jigglers, or is that dessert??

I've colored the boys milk green many years. Soup..you could tint chicken noodle soup green.
What about boiling pasta in green water...it may be green.

Good luck!
Katy

I don't think boiling the pasta in tinted water will work. There's not enough green in the water. You might be able to add drops of food coloring to cooked pasta & then stir it around, but I'm not sure about that either.

I know we can get various types of pasta that are made with spinach around here...like rotini or wheels. Sometimes you can buy just one color, but usually you'll see bags with 3 colors in the same bag.

You know, Lipton's makes a side dish with both green & white flat noodles in the Noodle & Sauce line...maybe called "Parmesan" :confused3 It's really quite good. You might be able to get away with that - even though it would be both green & white. The kids would definitely eat it though.
