Greece, questions about "on your own" time in Athens...

We are on the June 15th departure for Greece. For those of you that have done this one I'd love some feedback.
What time do you start the first night for the Welcome Dinner?
On day 2, the day spent in Athens, it says Lunch/Afternoon and Dinner are your own. On past adventures we've taken, during these times they have offered optional side trips or excursions. Is that the case here? And if not what time does the "on your own" time start that day more or less?
I am trying to plan some additional tours around the free time.

I took this trip in 2013, and the itinerary has changed just a bit since then (such as on the Athens day, we had lunch & the afternoon OYO, but dinner was a group activity). So I really can't speak to exact times. But I did want to say ENJOY!!! This is such a fabulous trip! You're going to LOVE it!

Thanks Sayhello! We are super excited. My daughter has been wanting to go on this one for years. I convinced her to do Peru, then Southeast Asia and then the Danube River Cruise when it came out. Then last year when were booked I had to cancel due to work.
