If you want to book Shades of Green, and their waiting list is closed, ask them to get you in another on-site property. I wanted a few days in June, and they couldn't even put me on the waiting list, which was full. However, they got us a room at the Swan for $115/night, and you still maintain all the privileges and military discounts just as if you were staying at SOG.

Hi Mark! You're absolutely right, Shades of Green "overflow" rates are amazing...we take advantage of them all the time. It is a GREAT perk for active duty military, reservists or retired military families.
