It's an easy drive for us.. We are taking just a few days over spring break and quite frankly you will NEVER EVER see us at WDW during SPRING BREAK!

They run specials there all the time and you can pretty decent rates, and the accomodations are fabulous, plus water park and wiley woods all included in price. There are no seperate prices for tickets to purchase. It's not Disney, but it is a great getaway. My kids have been to both numerous times, and if they had thier choice, they probably choose GWL due to freedom and no lines. Have fun!!

I think the GWL is just a different experience. I prefer it (or actually in the Dells, the Kalahari) for short one/two night getaways. Not something that is really feasible for WDW when you live in WI.

The accomodations are fine, but when at the Kalahari (across the street) we get the 3 bedroom Condo with kitchen/living room which is very comparable to a DVC unit. The side bedrooms are lockoffs so they still have a microwave & fridge. I imagine the GWL condos are similar.

We enjoy getting out of the snow and doing fun waterpark activities in the middle of winter. It helps with the winter blues. In the summer they have large outdoor water parks as well. So if your kids like waterparks it's worth a trip.

WAIT WAIT WAIT. Are you people trying to tell me that Disney is not the only place with water parks? Hold the phone. How could this happen? Are you trying to tell me that the happiest place on earth is not the only place to go?


You can't sell me on these feeble lies. Disney is the place. What's all this talk about 1 and 2 day trips. My god, vacations have to be a week or better. They must require a certain commitment to travel to your destination. Without some adversity of travel, one cannot enjoy the fruits of a vacation.


Ha, water parks that are not at Disney.

OMG, my family is GWL obsessed. We have one about an hour and a half away from our house, and it's in the mountains where its freezing! It's great in the winter because there is tubing and skiing nearby with discounts and we go there all the time for one night on the weekend. It's great if you need a quick getaway from the house. Now that we've seen and done everything at the resort multiple times, we spend some quality time in our room (gotta love those kid cabins!)! We went for New Year's Eve and it was fantastico! They had a party and a family game show. In the family game show, we made it to the finals and ended up winning second place! One free night at GWL. I could go on and on and on about this place...it's soo great, but not cheap.

Just stayed at GWL Williamsburg for two days last week on Winter break.

Initially tried to book GWL Poconos which is closer - smallest room was $525 a night - Yikes. Fortunately they did not have a room.

Called Williamsburg and found out the rate was $199 a night! Jumped in the car and drove 6 hours to get there only to find they UPGRADED us free to the largest suite they had - Grisley - two bedroom / two bath with jacussi ($700+ per night up north) for the same $199.

Nice place for a short visit but more than two days there would be a bit boring according to the kids (12-14).
