DD didnt want a "sweet 16" party :confused3 she wants to go to GWL. So I booked 2 fireplace loft suites, she invited 13 friends and we are headed there in a few days! ( I guess we r getting off easy since the party would have been alot more $$$$ ;) )

Never been - don't know what to expect... It looks like the water park closes at 8pm? What about food? Any tips??? The websites really not all that informative so I'd love for anyone who's been there/done that to reply.

Thanks!!

It has been a few years since we were there, so I don't know if anything has changed. My boys were quite tired after a day in the water so closing early might not be an issue.

As far as food, the places to eat at the lodge are expensive, so what I did was go down to the front desk and ask if they knew of any places that delivered. (it was also April and there was a freak snow storm). To my surprise they had a whole folder of menus. We decided on a pizza place and got a few dinners-lots of food_. That might just be the way to go with 14 16 year old girls. If you have the fireplaces maybe bring a few board games.

Have fun, I hope I was a little help.

For food I would leave GWL and drive either down the street taking a right out of the lot- there are lots of chainy type restaurants over there- Or head up the mountain to

We've always liked it- it gets mixed reviews- it's basic bar food think onion rings, burgers, chicken fingers kind of place yummy potato skins.

There is also the outlet mall right next to GWL which might be fun for them to wander around*they have a Coach outlet!!!

Have fun! And yeah good luck! I took a bunch of my daughter's friends for her 10th birthday. It was easy- the girls had a blast in the water park together and then we brought a few DVD's and they watched movies and we got pizza from the pizza hut inside (but it's really not great and rather a rip off- the other onsite restaurants are horrible imho)

Thanks for the replies! :thumbsup2

How's the teen room and arcade. Anyone know what time they close?

We went twice this past summer, and had a blast both times. One day/night is enough for us. We never paid extra to do the little game they have throughout all the hallways.

I know the hours change, so I don't know what time things typically close. I do remember being surprised that the arcade closed as early as it did when we were there in August.

I took my Girl Scouts there in June, and we got the GWL pizzas for dinner. I didn't find them to be as expensive as I thought they would be (I had actually called around to local pizza places, and they were all in the same price range). They also have the food bars in the water park, but expect to pay 8-10 dollars per meal.

Have fun! My ds8 was just asking when we could go back!

Thats what we did.
They had a blast, way better than a party at home!

I'm not sure what time the water park closes, but this is what we did-

Got there at noon on the day of check in. Our room was ready, so we dropped our stuff there and went right to the water. (they would have held our bags if the room wasn't ready) We came back to the room for lunch that I had packed. Back to the water park and pizza delivery in the room after the water park closed. I decorated the room and had a cake.

I think we were able to have more waterpark time since we weren't waiting around in the restaurant all day for two meals. I packed sandwiches, salads, snacks, drinks, anything I thought the kids would like. They all helped haul it into the room. We had a large suite with room for 8 to eat at a table.
It had a separate bedroom for dh and I so we could turn on a fan, close the door and not hear the kids up late. Everyone was pretty tired, I don't think they were up past 1am.

The next morning they had donuts, juice, cereal for breakfast that I brought. Then all went back to the water park while dh and I hung out awhile, checked out and packed everything into the car. We got them out of there around 2pm and stopped for lunch on the way home.

dd said it was her best birthday. Good thing, because it was her last big friends party. lol
