It had been a while since we had been to our favorite place on earth (we were at the All Star Music for a quick weekend in late January), so when we pulled into the Carribbean Beach Resort on Monday, March 24, we were on a high. Also, my wife, son (7), and daughter (3.5), were being joined by my father from NC and sister from OR. We got a great room in BLDG 24 in Martinique, we unpacked, and spent a little time walking around the resort. It was beautiful as always. We had dinner reservations at Boma at the AKL so we headed off a little early to show the lodge to my sister. We had stayed there with my father for a weekend back in December for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party and just fell in love with Boma. We relaxed and waited for our table around the indoor fire pit. Dinner was absolutely wonderful. We returned to CBR and got to bed. My wife had a 7am flight to NC to visit her grandmother who is ill, so I took her to Orlando International and then returned and got a little more sleep. I got up about 9am and the rest of us (my father, sister, son, and daughter) went to Epcot. We rode the Land, watched the Lion King environmental fable, my son and I rode test track, and then we went to Germany for lunch. Again, a great meal. We returned to the hotel for swimming, relaxing, and then went to dinner at the food court before shopping at Downtown Disney. We go up Wednesday am for an early morning at the Magic Kingdom. We had a great time and the park was not very crowded until about noon. We rode Peter Pan, Small World, Pooh, the Teacups, saw Pooh characters at Toontown, saw Alice at the Teacups, my son and I rode Big Thunder and Space mountains. We also watched the castle show before we went to lunch at Cinderella's Castle. After lunch we watched the parade before going back to CBR. I went to pick my wife up at the airport at 10:30pm. Thursday morning we went to breakfast at Cape May at the Beach Club and then walked into Epcot. We returned to the hotel and relaxed by the pool until it started raining. We then waited the rain out in the hotel room by playing Disney Trival Pursuit. We headed to MGM for dinner at the Brown Derby and Fantasmic. Dinner and the show were great. The grapfruit cake is wonderful. If you go, you must try it. We got up Friday am and drove to Port Orleans Riverside for breakfast at Boatrights and the returned to the hotel for checkout. We went to MGM where my son rode the Rock-N-Rollercoaster for the first time. We spent some time shopping and riding Star Tours before heading home.
Carribbean Beach Resort continues to be our favorite resort when all factors are included. The staff is always VERY friendly and we love the layout. We really enjoy the walkway around the resort and the wonderful beaches and pools. The renovations to Old Port Royale and very nice and the bus service is always good at CBR. From this vacation I recommend in the way of food, Boma (everything is good), the apple struedal at Germany, and the grapefruit cake at the Hollywood Brown Derby.
Here's to Disney and we are looking forward to our next trip in May.
