Hey folks:
During our recent non-Disney (gasp!) Cruise in March, without our kids (gasp and double-yay!), we spent a day in Key West. We loved our day there so much it was the final kick-in-the-pants to come home and book the new Western Itinerary Cruise for next year. Which we did.....Yay again!
Before going, I found the attached web site put together by Sharon Wells which has a terrific series of walking tours for Key West. You can order the booklet for the walking and biking tours on the site, or get all the info right on the site. I also saw copies of the booklet in Key West.
Rather than sign up for a tour, we put together our mini-walking tour by combining sections of Sharon's tours in advance. We weren't really sure how much we were going to be able to manage in just one day, so we adjusted accordingly once we started. We had a terrific time, and Sharon's tours cover every conceivable highlight, great notes and details on the architecture and history of the different buildings.
We shopped, hit the Hemingway house, toured the back streets, took in the beautiful landscaping, the local colour and characters and of course we snacked. We managed to gobble down Chocolate-Covered-Frozen-Key-Lime-Pie-On-A-Stick (OH Yeah baby!!!) during the morning break, and a Hunk and a half of regular Key-Lime Pie during the afternoon break. The only disappointment was leaving the port just as the excitement was starting in Mallory Square. Which is why we are really looking forward to the Disney Cruise with our daughters, when we get to stay until the evening.

I've started the planning for the next cruise...and so far, the itinerary outline for Sunday reads: "Stuff faces with Chocolate-Covered-Frozen-Key-Lime-Pie-On-A-Stick". I'lll fill in the rest of the blanks some time between now and next January. Don't anyone tell me this here Canuck doesn't have his priorities in order!
Dreamin' of another Disney Cruise....
