Great Trip, However;

Anything over 75 degrees is just too hot for me when walking around a theme park.
Fair comment.

My personal problem with 75 degree days is that the early mornings and late nights tend to be 60 degrees and too chilly. In an ideal world it would be 70-75 degrees 24 hours per day. At DLR I'll define a realistic ideal (for me) as 68 degrees at 6AM, 82 degrees at mid-day, and 72 degrees at midnight. This is typical for June weather and slightly cool for July and August.

When I was there at the DLR last week a lot of people were complaining it was too hot. For me it was perfect with a nice cool breeze in the afternoon. But see, I live in Bakersfield where we rarely cool off at night in the summer. I used to live in Chino Ca,( 30 min. to DLR) and thought the weather there was perfect because of the breeze. I terribly miss it because Bakersfield can really cook. Just like Texas, Arizonza, etc... I guess it depends were you live and what you are used to, but I love the weather at Disneyland in the summer, it always seems just right for me....

I like the 60's. I get hot way too easily. I wish summer weather didn't exisit at all where I live. I prefer Winter and Fall. That goes for every day life...and for visiting Disney parks.

I get sick of user names quickly. Honeybee06 was actually my most recent one. I had over 3,000 posts on that name...mostly on the American Idol thread though. I wanted to be a redheaded cartoon character for my newest pre-trip report...haha.

I notice the difference in CMs to a degree, but not as much as everyone else says. There is not much the managers can do, the pay isnt that hot, there are literally millions of other jobs available in the area, and thats not so much the case in Orlando. It needs to be a decision from upper management that they are willing to make the job more attractive.

Growing up, I always knew when the fireworks show was on. We could hear the deep booming even in far northwest side of huntington beach. I can't imagine how loud it must be for the residents in anaheim.
We've gotten used to the noise and can generally tune it out. The smoke would be a different matter, but we're upwind, the prevailing summer evening wind being from the ocean, southwest.

IMO the summer weather at DLR gets a bad rap. Just like most everywhere heat waves are possible, but in general the summer weather is ideal in my experience.

yeah I have to disagree with you there hydroguy....in the summer its usually NOT under 90º...heck in April this year it was over 100 in anaheim...I think it has been a much milder summer this year than in prior years but once again that pushes my point home in how weather is so fickle in CA that you cannot compare year to year how it is going to be in any season period! oh yeah and my friend and I have the weather thing down to a science here...if you look on weather.com, whatever anaheim weather says it will be, then add to it and that is a more accurate forecast

Hmmm. It would be helpful here if DLR recorded and published temperatures at the parks. But I have not seen it so we are left with this debate unless someone knows of such data. The published Anaheim temperature data is the best I could find near DLR and it does indicate recorded not predicted temperatures. How does it compare to DLR? I don't know for sure. The recorded data is consistent with my experience in recent years and from many years ago.

I just do not what to make of your claim that "in the summer its usually NOT under 90º" which, it sounds to me, means that it is usually over 90 degrees there. I can't find any recorded data around Anaheim that supports that and it is not what I myself have experienced.

I'd say adding 5 to 10 degrees to what weather.com says would be pretty accurate for that days high temp.

I don't think Disneyland would record an accurate temperature either. I'm not sure why the forecasts are as low as they are and why the weather history is always recorded as 5 to 10 degrees lower than the temperature reached.

I checked weather.com and accuweather.com for a report of yesterday's high which can vary depending upon the time of day they record.

Weather.com = 83
Accuweather.com = 87

Accuweather's history for Anaheim looks a little more accurate. High 80's to low 90's. The heat index also adds a few degrees.

I think a lot of people see the average temps and are confused since that figure is reached based upon the high and low temps. Thanks to that Pacific Breeze that flows across Orange County overnight they see some pretty low temps. Average those two numbers and we see those amazing mid 70 temps that Southern Californians brag about.

Just because the average is 75 doesn't mean you aren't going to bake during the day.

When people are planning they need to make sure they look at what the high will be and err on the higher side since weather reporting for the area takes their high forecast for a specific time of day. It could still get hotter.

In essence, everybody is right. We're just not presenting the facts correctly.

Average temps for a 24 period in August are roughly 77 degrees give or take a degree.
Average temps for a typical 12 to 15 hour Disneyland trip will be around 86 degrees give or take a degree.

We need to take figures from 9am to Midnight and exclude those mid 60's that occur at 4am.

I hope this clears up some confusion. Those of us who live or have lived in the area are a little more aware of the warm temps and find it hard to understand how or why the forecasts are done the way they are. I understand that they want to keep tourists flocking to the area but a lot of people are very surprised when they hear "Average" temperatures then can't figure out why it's so darned hot when they get there.

Cheers! :yay:
