I spent Fri-Sun in Kansas City. the trip was 90% business, but I wanted to share what a great time I had on Friday afternoon. I arrived about 1pm and set out on my quest for great BBQ. I had planned to visit two or three local places either walking or taking a cab between them. When I got into a cab outside the hotel and asked to be taken to Gates and Sons BBQ, Sidney the driver and I started talking barbecue.
When we got to Gates I asked Sidney for the companies number so I could call another cab when I was ready to head to the next stop. Sidney turns to me and says he'll make me a deal. He does all the driving and and I pay for all the barbecue and we'll call it even at the end of the day. Sidney and I proceed to eat at Gates, Okie Joes, and Arthur Bryants having a great time comparing the attributes of each restaurant. These were the three stops on my itinerary, but instead of heading back to the hotel Sidney takes me to his favorite place about 1/2 an hour south of the city.
Six hours later he dropped me off at the hotel. I tried to give him $50 since he hadn't had a paying fare all afternoon and he absolutely refused my money. It was a truly great day and I didn't even have to travel to WDW.
