I just read about a wonderful and VERY CHEAP souvenir for kids when you go on vacation to Disney or elsewhere.
On the date of your arrival, purchase one postcard for each day of your trip for each child (so if you are gone for 7 days and have 2 kids = 14 postcards). Try to pick cards of things that you know you are going to see. Also purchase a souvenir keychain. Then each day, have the kids write one or two sentences of something that happened on that day, and put the date in the address section (you will not be sending the cards).
When you get home, punch a hole in the corner of each card, and attach to the keychain! Then you can make a souvenir box from a shoebox for your child to keep the postcards in!
I'm glad that I read about this today -- we go to Washington DC later this week, and Disney at the end of the year!
