Hi all
My DH did the Great North Run the other Sunday so I was watching the TV to see if I could spot him. Well I was sat there crying listening to the stories behind why people chose the charities to support. I was so moved that I have decided to get off my behind and do it next year.If that guy can do it who lost all that weight then I can.
I am 30 next year and would like to do something in this milestone in my life. I think my charity will be Children with Leukemia. As a parent I cannot imagine how devasting this is and would like to do my part for it.
I thought I would tell all my friends on the DIS and keep you updated on how I get on with my training, this thread will keep me going when it is raining or cold and I want to stay in :cold: :umbrella:

Wow - well done Clare - that shows real dedication!!! Having worked with sick children for the last 16 years and being a mum myself (albeit with grown uo children but the thought of anything happening to them is the same however old they are!!) I think that's a wonderful charity. Good luck with the training! I'm doing the Walk for Life next month - only 10 km but it all helps!!

Well done, and of course we will help you to keep motivated to train.
If you are feeling low or un motivated, you know this is the place to come. :grouphug:

Good on you. :cheer2:

Not long to go now, until your trip - yippie!

Hi Karen
I will PM with you my trip details shortly. I have made a big note to myself for your Mickey Ears :sunny: I think I am going to get some for myself

Well done Clare, that's a great thing to do. I'm sure we'll all help to keep you motivated. As well as obviously the money you will raise, the satisfaction of doing something so challenging will make you feel great afterwards.

Good luck!

Well done you :)

We will nag (cough, cough) erm motivate ;) you all the way :teeth:

What a wonderful thing to do - and think how fit you will be as well :)

Good Luck diberry. It's a great casue and I'm sure you'll meet some great people along the way.
I did the race for Life last year and it made me cry to see all those women who were either doing it as they had suffered from cancer or were doing it in memory of somebody. My mum died of cancer when I was 14 so to just to write 'my mum' on the back made me sob even more. My friends were great and we all had a great time.
Enjoy it
