message that he was peeking at me when I was on the computer via our webcam. I didn't even notice the light was on - have never used the thing.

Of course he looked when I was playing on the dis, and not cleaning the office just a few minutes before!

I guess I'm going to have to brush my hair and have on a cute top next time I sit down here.

I was vaguelly disturbed, as in "OMG, I hope I didn't pick my nose or fart, or something."

Now, if he were doing it and not telling me, I'd be very disturbed!

That would bother me too. Not so much because I would mind my DH seeing me, but because he didn't give me a choice. Hmmm, I would totally cover the eye with a bit of paper.

No, it's built into the monitor and just looks like a small round lens.

I don't really mind him doing it. Like I said, he messaged me right away and I really don't have anything to hide from him. I certainly can understand why others would be uncomfortable, though.

And now I'm off to the pool. I don't want anyone to think I'm ignoring any further posts on here. Will check in later this evening.

He said he and my son dowloaded it last night and were playing with it just for fun.

I honestly think he was just doing it to see if it worked from where he was. I don't think he was in any way "spying" on me.

Nope, a webcam is turned on and off via software and anything that is accessed via software can be hacked. There is a flash flaw that allows for unauthorized access to webcams. It's been patched for a year but people don't keep up with patches.

Of course if you have physical access to a computer (as I'm assuming anyone's spouse would) pretty much anything can be done if they are knowledgeable enough. There is software out there that is used for security which turns on the camera to try and locate a stolen computer. Of course this can be misused as evidenced in the Lower Marion School District case from earlier this year (article). It was pretty big news in the computer security industry because it pointed out how easy it is to access webcams, especially on computers you have administrator access to.

OP- I think some people on here are just trying to rile you up about nothing. Ignore it. He was curious about what you were doing without you knowing he was watching.
Haven't we all peeked on somebody in someway (through a window, cracked door, standing in a hallway, etc.) before announcing our presence?? Trying to bust someone talking about you, trying to hear some gossip, trying to scare somebody...

People just need to quit trying to stir things up and trying to make you paranoid. This would be a very different subject if you had started off with "My husband and I have been having some troubles lately, and I just caught him spying on me with a webcam."

That sounds like something my DH and DS would do, little stinkers. Of course they're not going to tell you until after they've tried their little experiment. I don't think I have a webcam but who knows

If he was trying to spy he certainly wouldn't have told you. I don't see it as a big deal either.

Husbands, they do crazy things but we still love them.....and of course they love us too!
