I want to make sure I seat DD(7) as far away from the alien as possible, but which side is the worst? I haven't been on it since '91 and can't remember.

So if we are sitting down facing the front of the vehicle, will the alien be on the left side or the right side?

:thanks:

It's on the right side if it comes out on the side.....sometimes it comes out of the ceiling.

I Beleive it is right in the middle of the attracation right above your head coming down towards your direction. Im sorry :(

It comes out in both locations. Depending on timing, you could end up with it right at you both times, or not too close to you both times. It is on the right at directly overhead. Usually the one to the right is first - again depending on timing and where you are seated in the cars.

There is one that comes out of the right side and one that comes down from the ceiling.

The Sigouney Weaver character from the movie is on the left side. She just looks around in a really wary way. If you are on that side, you may be able to distract your child from the alien on the right by looking at her (but that ceiling guy may get you anyway).

Yeah, it slides down a little bit from the ceiling in the middle. I believe they blow out some smoke before he comes down. Not that scary to me. I love that ride!

We just rode this twice, and as much as I could tell, the alien itself is on the ceiling. There's a bunch of fog and "something" is looking out of the ceiling, but both times we rode we were on the back section of the ride vehicle, and I think the alien had "gone back" in by the time we passed under.

[Just asked my dh, and he said it's then on the RIGHT side-- they say something like "there it is again." :rotfl: See how observant I must be? I never even noticed the dang thing on the side!!!]

I had bad expectations of this ride the first time we rode (in 2004) and thought my dd (then 6) would be spooked, so she and the other little girl she was riding with hid their heads through this whole section.....

I remember THAT ride I never saw the alien at all!!!

This year, dd is 8 and took pride that she was scared of nothing. She even looked right at the "ceiling version" of the alien-- I don't think she ever saw the second one, either.

It's not something that really "pops out" at you-- "Dinosaur-style" [Which, incidently, we rode at AK twice at dd8's request!!! :) ]

Both of the previous posters are correct. It comes out of the wall from the right hand side and it also comes at you from above. My kids were really good at closing their eyes and hiding in my lap during this part when they were smaller. You have plenty of warning when this part is coming up as you have to turn the corner before you see the alien. I believe it is right after the western scene.

Wow... you guys are great! I stepped away from the computer for a few minutes, and came back to all these answers. Thanks!!!

The Great Movie Ride is my favorite attraction at MGM, however I can't tolerate the 'Alien' part and I am an adult! I saw the movie as a kid under false pretenses and it scared me to death! Now I just put my head down and close my eyes as soon as we enter that section and don't look up until we're out! LOL Even the music gets to me, kinda like the Jaws theme so I just hum a little! I usually sit in the center even tho' it does come down from the ceiling, my head is down so I never see it. I wouldn't want to be on the right since it's too close to me there so I guess the furthest left would be best but I like having my family around me to 'protect' me. LOL DD15 usually acts as lookout!
