Working on our touring plans and wondering if we should include this or not with a five year old. Thanks!

I would include it. My dd was 3.5 when we took her on it last summer, and she enjoyed it, although of course she did not recognize any of the movies. Also, there's not a whole lot of attractions for young kids (or anyone else for that matter) at the moment, so you might as well do it.

DS5 and DS4 both enjoyed it and asked to go on it several times. I would include it. I believe they are updating parts of it, though I'm not sure what parts or what the time frame is.

only you know if your child will find it interesting.

personally at the age of 5 i was in love with the ride.
then again i've always been an old soul and have always loved the classic movies in the ride.

They may not recognize the movies, but there is a LOT to see, each scene is jam packed with STUFF.....most children would recognize Wizard of Oz at least. If you've been on it again, you know that a 'bad guy' takes over the ride and while a bit on the cheesy side for adults, there have been several times that young children have made comments that make you realize THEY think it's real, lol. Of course, for sensitive kids that can be difficult. Then there is the alien exhibit....which my girls absolutely hated (back in the day of the dropping creature) and have refused to watch the movie, lol....even though they love classics and have seen 99% of the rest of the movies in the ride.

It's about a 15 minute ride, so it's not like it's forever....FP are easy to come by same day....so I'd go for it. Worst case it will be a first and last ride.....but chances are they're going to want to go on it again to see more....we go on it each trip and there is always some little detail I either forgot or never noticed.

All that said, I would love to see them update it or add to it......there have been a lot of good "classics" since this ride was made that could add....but I hestiate to think what the current management might do to it....I really don't need to have Frozen in there, lol. Now that Turner Classics is involved, we may see some good stuff though. (Fingers and toes crossed).

Oddly, it was my 8 year old least favorite. She found the part with the gun fire and building on fire to be scary. But she loved TOT.

My kids went on with us at that age, but they didn't love it. They did not like the scene from Alien, though. They found it to be a little scary.

I think so....keeping in mind that they could get scared during the Alien scene. My niece (8) and nephew (7) love it, but they don't like that one part.

Dd7 likes to ride but she still wants to wear noise canceling headphones during the entire ride. And she covers her head during the alien scene, usually with a sweatshirt/ towel depending on the season. She still doesn't want to try TT yet, so she is a bit timid.

Whatever you choose, remember there is at least one "scary"-ish scene with the Aliens scene. I took my (then) 6 y/o nephew on GMR, and I completely forgot about that scene! He did great the rest of the ride, but he buried his head into my shoulder through that whole scene. Thankfully it didn't traumatize him or anything..he came off the ride saying he loved it :)

Our son was scared of the witch in the Wizard of Oz scene. He took it in stride though because the area is really cute.

My 4 month old loved it in 2012. The lights and sounds completely dazzled him! I won't take him this year though (he will be 3) because he is frightened by loud noises and unexpected surprises. He'd flip his little kid in the Alien scene or during gunfire. My five year old has requested to see it again so we may have to split up.

We did it for the first (and probably last) time in December, when our kids were 5 and 8. They were both totally confused by it and scared at parts.

I have loved GMR since I was about your daughter's age. My cousin, also loves that ride and s about her age. Some of the high point IMO of the GMR are Mickey in Fantasia, Mary Poppins, and the entire Wizard of Oz sequence (thinking most little girls would know this movie). I think all of those sequences are great for little kids! It is such a fun and classic ride, and if I am in HS, it is a mustdo for me! :)

My year and a half year old gets scared during the gunfire scene. She wasn't a big fan of the alien either, although I think the panicked voice going "Warning! Warning!" is what really clued her in to get scared.

My kids were scared at the Alien scene when the thing drops down, and the gunfire. DD said she never wants to go on it again.

Most kids love the ride. Just be sure that they know it's not real
(just pretend), or warn them about the Alien cause that's the only really scary thing, The cowboys/gangsters are generally pretty good with the kids. the cowboy scene DOES have a huge scene with fire when they run that one. They usually only run gangster lately. But do warn them about Alien and about the Anubis scenes, cause they can be a little scary.

My kids (and frankly me too) found it insanely dull. The only real high point was the OZ scene, and after a minute of looking at it all, we were done with that too. And before anybody thinks we're just "looking for thrills," my kids ask to ride CoP. GMR and HoP are the only two things they reeeeeally don't like.

My wife and I love the ride and my boys do not, nor have they ever. Everyone is different. But there is little enough to do at DHS that you can fit this in once and find out without missing anything else.
