Mousesavers suggests going to the Patina Group website and joining the birthday club. They offer you either a 30/30 offer or a 50/50 offer and you choose from their list of restaurants, some of which are Catal, Uva Bar, Naples Ristorante, and Tortilla Jo's. There are quite a few more, and in other states, but I was looking specifically for DL area.

The offer is valid from the date of issue up to 60 days after the birthday, which is nice in case you aren't there on your birthday.

Here is the link, and then scroll down to the end of the text and choose West Coast rules and regulations.

Thanks to mousesavers for a great idea!

Found this offer here last fall. We went for Dh's birthday and used the coupon for Tortilla Jo's. Brought our order down from $80 to $50. And dh got sang to and free ice dessert. Had a great time...wish we had a birthday this time.

That's a good one. Thanks for sharing.

Stubby, we chose Tortilla Jo's also, so it's good to hear that you had a great experience!

Skiing Fast, you are welcome!

We are going to be there for my b-day as well as DD who will be 10. I wonder if I could get one for her to, at a different restaurant? I guess they could look at her birth certificate too, but I will have to go back and read the rules.

Well I just looked, and you have to be 21 years old to participate, so DD will have to wait 11 year, lol!
At least we will have it for my birthday!

Thanks, Traci, just joined.

This is awesome!

This offer was actually going on last year - somewhere on this board there are a couple of old threads about it - and was quite popular.

At the time there was some question as to whether ordering a $30 meal meant that the $30 coupon made it free, or if the restaurants only covered whatever was spent over $30 (like if we spent $37.50, they would cover $7.50, and if we ordered $60 of food, they would cover $30 and we would pay $30). It turns out they were supposed to just be covering whatever was spent over $30, but not to exceed that $30. BUT, in many cases, the restaurants were covering the $30 on a $30 meal, making it free! Or if someone spent $37.50, the restaurant might cover the $30 and the customer paid the $7.50.

Apparently it was not supposed to be like that - they chose to do it that way and give more freebies when there was a different manager, I think the story went (can't recall all the details). Under new management, the rules were supposed to be different. I have no idea what they are doing with that $30 (or $50) now!

When I got my e-mailed birthday certificate and realized I would not be able to use it in DTD, I saw that it could also be used at restaurants in L.A. - one being right down the street from where I am, at LACMA.

I'm glad you started this thread, Traci, because just the other day I was wondering if the Patina Group was going to offer something for a second year. I think it's only a one-time offer - in other words, all the people who used the offer last year will probably not get another offer like that this year (I could be wrong, but I don't think so). I didn't want to resurrect the same old threads because I felt it might mislead those people who already got their Patina coupon last year into thinking they would get another one this year.

So, in that case, anyone new to and unfamiliar with the offer definitely needs to know about it! Thanks for posting!:thumbsup2

Aw wish we had a birthday for this trip, but we are going for our Anniversary. Shame they don't have an anniversary one! lol Great coupon though!

Sherry, I am glad I found it so that I can get feedback! I went back and read the example they gave and you basically deduct $30.00 off of your bill, but you have to spend at $30.00. The example is: If your total bill is $88.00, then you pay the first $58.00 and we'll pick-up the remaining $30.00. So as long as you spend at least $30 that doesn't include tax and gratuity, you're fine!

And this is good for several different states, basically wherever they have a rest., which unfortunately isn't Oregon.

Thank you, today is my birthday and I just signed up and got my certificate. It's quite funny how how we live here and often forget to do things like this to save money!

By the way, you pick your favorite restaurant, but the certificate is valid for any of their restaurants in your area (so be sure to enter a local zip code for your zip code when signing up).
