Here is my saga:

We are arriving 02/18 and departing 03/03. Total 14 nights.

Prior to last round of AP/code discounts we had two standard rooms AAA rate at POR for $4,485.00. ($160.00/night per room) We booked standard rooms with two beds that connect, this is the best for us. During initial discount period and numerous calls I was told that only king rooms were available at discount rate; non-connecting rooms. No choice, so we book two king rooms for $3,871.00. ($138.00/night per room). We didn’t really want king rooms because only one bed and we have 6 people going, which means a cot. However, a total savings of $616.00 seemed to be worth it. I actually thought about going back to AAA discount. I said I thought about it - but I'm not crazy!!! For the next several days, I kept calling (several times) to see if any standard rooms were available; connecting or not. ANSWER - "Only king rooms sir, Sorry!"

UNTIL TODAY! - Entering the picture is a very cheerful CM named Sunset. "Let me check for you sir," in her soft polite voice.

I say, "I understand king rooms are more desirable, but I would be willing to pay the same rate for two standard rooms, even more." I could have slit my throat after saying that last part. Boy do I have a big mouth sometimes!

After a couple comments of "I don't see anything yet, but let me try something else" CM Sunset comes back on, "Oh sir, I have found two standard rooms available, would you like them?" At this point a bead of sweat is running down my forehead as I ask, "What would the rate be, Sunset?" "I can give you those with your Annual Pass rate of $3,247.00." Like a slovenly dufus, I asked her to repeat herself - not once but twice!!!

She then assured me that each room would be $116.00 per night. This is now a $1,238.00 savings. I almost told her I loved her! She quickly switched my reservation and assured me that she would send a new confirmation in the mail. Is this service or what! Why can't all CM's be trained like this? Does anyone have the email for comments, because this CM deserves a great review. She didn’t give up after the first try; she didn't Hmm and Haa; she didn't have an attitude; and she was very polite and cheerful - even happy for me!

My advice if you don't get what you want - keep trying to the last minute. Also, a good CM like Sunset will help - ALOT!

Perfect circumstances, great rate....have a wonderful trip.:)

Hawk, That is fantastic!! Congratulations to you! Yeah!!
Thanks for a good chuckle, too! ;)

GREAT Story!!!

I got a champ of a CM during the initial AP rate scramble, got disconnected from her, and she CALLED ME BACK!!!! And got me a great rate at the Ft Wilderness Cabins.

I've not had much luck with emailing compliments, but I can attest that if you send a letter, via good old fashioned snail mail, they will read it:

Walt Disney World Guest Communications
P.O. Box 10000
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830-1000

I wrote to them about an exceptional CM experience last January, and a very sweet woman from WDW called me, to thank me for taking the time to write, and to assure me that a copy of the letter would go into the CMs file, along with a commendation from her manager. If you tell them the name, and date and time you called, they will be able to know exactly which CM you are talking about.

I agree that a good CM can make the difference. We have a trip coming up in April and the first two CM's I got seemed somewhat uninterested in my vacation. I wanted to remind them of who pays their salary!!

Anyway, I made some minor changes yesterday while speaking to a CM named Jenna Dean (I think that was her name)...well she was very nice, extremely helpful, asked a bunch of questions and answered my questions about POR. Although I did not get a better rate, she did say to keep an eye out for future discounts. All in all a good - conversation with someone that was extremely helpful and seemed to like her job.

icouldlivethere--I just sent you a PM. :wave2: :sunny:
