great car rental rate

Nope, they don't. Alamo charges you the total amount when you pick up the car. National puts a hold for the total amount when you pick up the car and sends it through upon return.

Those are the ones I am most familiar with.

I would assume the deposit will be immediately released. I just don't like the idea of the hold. Just me, that's all, but, I also like to inform people of it mainly because they really don't disclose it in a place where people will see it.

My reservation is with Dollar for $164 for 8 days, total with taxes $216, and they sent a free upgrade when I joined their club. The code was DEALS.

I think I'll try for the $119 rate.

Just wanted to let you know, L&M and E-Zrent are owned by the same company and I was told that there have been some bad reports about L&M on the mousesavers.com site.:(

Just use the CDEM code at Dollar for the compact weekly rate of $119. I've got one reserved for August.

The coupon you get when joining FastPass isn't a double upgrade, you get two single-class upgrade coupons but can only use one at a time. Still not bad for free!

Ok, did you try the WalMart code? Anyone can get that rate.
It might save you some money and get you a larger car, if you want one. :) BY 430710

Noticed your "tag line", I am so incredibly HAPPY for you!!!!

Thanks for the code, I tried it yesterday, and some others, I still keep coming up with even higher rates, getting close to $200 just for the base price. Maybe the times I need the car for are weird? The base price I got from Avis is actually $120 for the week, once taxes and other charges get added in it's about $166.

Thanks for the well wishes too! I will celebrate 5yrs of
survivorship in Dec.!!!:Pinkbounc

Wulfy is your $119 rate the base price or the total?

was accepted on a a compact car from alamo on priceline :
pick up : MCO ( Orlando )
09/13/03 - 09/20/03 Compact from ALAMO
for 15 USD a day plus taxes and fees for a total of 145 USD :-)

Lucky me, the "regular" rental rates seem pretty hi in the moment even with coupons and codes ...

laurabelle, it's the base price. Total is estimated at $155 with taxes etc.

I was expecting to pay around $130 - $140 total; as others have said, prices seem high right now.

I was amazed yesterday when I plugged in my codes and the price had jumped about 50.00. This was overnight. It is not you or your times, Alamo just went nuts!!! I would stick with Avis, they are a great company.

Congrats on the 5 years, that is truly wonderful.

I was shocked when I saw this yesterday. I wonder what drugs they are taking. :)

megaelch, Great Priceline price. We have a trip in November and I've been trying the $15 @ day for the last couple of months. I figure as I get closer to November, the $15 a day will get accepted.
In the meantime I do have a reservation through Dollar for a decent (not terrific) price.

We rented from Hertz through cheaptickets.com this past weekend in Chicago and had a coupon from their site for a 2 car upgrade - compact on up. We rented a compact and when we got to the car it was a 2 door car - I think Avalon that I would have classified as economy. What we were told is that the sporty models are considered a 2 class upgrade from Compact.

An Avalon is a top of the line Toyota, hardly and economy car, a metro is an economy car.
