Can anyone give me any feedback on the Great American BBQ at Fort Wilderness. I am trying to decide if I want to reseve Priority seating, but I don't know much about it. Thanks

Trackerbee -- not sure if you ever got this answered, so...

Although we've never gone, I'll share what I've heard about Mickey's Backyard BBQ. It's a seasonal event that can get kinda crowded. It's held outside, so on a hot day, it can be kinda uncomfortable. The food gets mixed reviews -- much like the Hoop-Dee-Doo food...

I believe they have line-dancing and such that the characters participate in. I'm not sure how much interaction there is with the characters -- posts are a little inconsistent on that point with some saying it was great and others saying there wasn't much.

Many people seem to really enjoy it. If I had known about it when our kids were younger, I probably would have given it a shot. As always, a few posters have said it's not worth the price.

Hopefully others who have gone will post their specific experiences...

We just did Mickey's BBQ in July and it was good. I prefer the Hoop De Doo Rev. (we did this in 2000 and my son then age 6 laughed the entire time.) or the Luau, my son (age 7) loved it Mickey's BBQ. Yes the charcters are there they come out and do autographs (Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale & Goofy) they made about three appearances and everyone was able to see all charcters and get autographs they even dance with the kids, which kids love. They have a country band that plays and a line dance instructor and he teaches you about three line dances. The food is buffet style. They have BBQ chicken, ribs, coleslaw, baked beans, corn on the cob, cornbread, etc. the basic BBQ foods, they food was good. It is held at Fort Wilderness camp area under a big "shed" in the same area as Hoop De Doo, which is also right at River Country. I reserved my tickets about I think 120 days out, there was a lot of people I am not sure of the number but it was not so crowded that it was miserable. I would probably do this again on our annual trip, but wait a year or two.

Any others questions just let me know. Have fun!

We just went last week to the BBQ. We had never been to WDW in the summer, and so we wanted to try it. It was the only thing on our trip that I would have changed. Everyone there was very nice, but it was VERY crowded, noisy and hot. The food was OK. The characters come out and line up for pictures and autographs for a lot of the time, this was not my idea of what we wanted to do for dinner. I do have 3 kids and we left early at their request. The HDD is MUCH better, we just wanted to try something new. The rest of our trip was wonderful, I don't expect for everything to be perfect, but if I had to do it again I would have booked the HDD.
