I'm an SPG member and have a AAA membership so decided to check www.spg.com Swan and Dolphin rates for April 10 - 16 using codes for both membership types. SPG corporate rates were coming up for Swan in the 293.00 to 347.00 range. AAA rates for the same dates were 177.00 to I believe 237.00. I managed to reserve a King Jr. Suite for 222.00 plus 10.00 resort fee. Seems too good to be true - especially since this includes Easter weekend and most fo the following week.

I also checked Dolphin AAA rates for those dates and they were 305.00 to 495.00 and suites didn't show up at all.

If you've stayed in the Swan King Jr. Suite recently, what did you think?

We also have ressies for FW Cabins the same date but since we are pool people and do like to walk to activities, I think I'll go ahead and cancel those. Rate for those were 265.00 AAA - down side is we won't have a kitchen but knowing us, we wouldn't have used it much anyway.

travellady- good rate - but is there any chance you qualify for a teacher, military or government employee rate? You may be able to do better if you fall into one of those categories.

When I called the Swan directly I found that they had the same AAA rates as the Dolphin, even though they did not show up online. If you really want the Dolphin it wouldn't hurt to call and ask. I have also noticed that to get the best AAA rates, rooms should be booked as far in advance as possible. In checking availability for early December I find a fully prepaid rate around $270 (I think - haven't checked it for a while) - but a few months back they offered $162.50.

travellady ~ I stayed in a king Jr. Suite @ the Swan in late July. It was in the east wing 6th floor with balcony. It was the end room so the views were almost panoramic. We had three large windows and the balcony doors. We faced the Dolphin, Friendship launch docks and could see the B/Y Club. From the balcony we could see the quiet pool and the grotto pool. It is a fantastic room. There is a sofa bed in the room, too.

It is a great room - DH and I really loved it!

Did you reserve a King Jr Suite online? If so, how?

jgates: Thanks for the tip - unfortunately I don't qualify for any of the special rates you mentioned.

TammyC: Thanks for the info about the Dolphin - do you know if Dolphin Jr. Suites are nicer than the Swan or are they equal? It's a hard decision deciding which of the two - they both seem to have positives and negatives.

Mouseteacher: thanks - Glad to hear the rooms are nice. Are they all on higher level floors? I noticed my rate description said partial lake view.

dorisdvu: I did reserve online. I'm a Starwood Preferred Guest so checked rates through SPG.COM while logged into my account. In the Special Rate Plan selection box, I selected Automobile Association. I also did not select non-smoking - when I did this initially the King Suite didn't appear as it doesn't include non-smoking in it's description. When I called the Swan to see if I could change it to a non-smoking, the girl told me 90% of the rooms are non-smoking. She did say my ressie hadn't shown up yet but to call back later in the week and they can make sure they note non-smoking.
