Let me preface that I never carry cash, either at WDW or at home. Anyway, we are going to in January and I *think* we might use the dining plan. Do you think you will have the ability to charge the gratuity portion of your meal to your room or will we have to carry cash?

Dont think there will be a problem doing this, think you just have to link a CC to room
Paulh

We are thinking of doing the exact same thing. I usually stop the front desk every morning or every evening anyway and settle up the day's charges so it would be easier just to charge the tips back to the room.

If this is true, I would feel a whole lot better about the DDP in 2008.
I do not carry cash either and this would make it a lot easier.

I'm thinking that Disney would offer this because it will make the idea of leaving the tip a little more palatable.

But, does anyone know for sure that they will allow this? :confused3

Isn't the tip included with the DDP? I thought I read that it was.

:confused3

I'd like to know this too because we hardly ever carry cash with us to WDW. Usually everything is added to our room key and I pay at the end with the credit card. I hate having cash on me. :confused3

I am thinking that they would not allow you to do this as it would make alot of extra work for them. Just my opinion.I think it was totally stupid top remove the gratuity from the plan in the first place. I honestly think many people are just going to forget it. Not that I agree with it but people don't want to be inconvienced. I honestly didn't mind the appetizer being taken away but I do think the gratuity thing is a pain in the neck it was so much easier with it included. Honestly for me that was the beauty of the plan that I didn't have to worry about any money it was all set. I wish the powers to be asked the actual folks that use the plan about changes they were planning!

I think that taking away the appetizer was awful, usually I'd like an appetizer more than a dessert.

Maybe they should have made a choice appetizer or dessert. With taking away the tip the servers will probably be getting less from me I usually leave extra for good service, if I have to calculate the tip on the entire meal I may not leave that little extra. I've also been know, at home, to leave $1.25 tip on a $60+ meal if I get LOUSY service.

I guess I was thinking about this in a different direction:confused:

When we go back in Aug 2008 we will do the plan and there will be at least 6 in our group, so we get the automatic 18% added on to our bill. There will be 3 Adults & 1 Child in a room and the other room 2 Adults, hence the six of us eating all at once. Here is my thought (or ?) We put money on our room card when we arrive, my MIL & SIL (who are in the other room) do not. So am I going to get the 18% added to my room key everytime (for the table)or will they break it down per person?:confused3
:sad2: You would think no big deal, BUT you dont know my MIL!!!!!:rotfl:

So maybe it wont just go on your card:confused3 But I would think with parties over six it would?:confused3
But on that same thought what if like my MIL you DONT add cash on your card when you arrive how would they automaticly charge your tip? ;)

:upsidedow I think Im confusing myself!!!:lmao: :upsidedow

danalee - when we go out to eat in big groups the server can charge different amounts on two or more cards. So I would think you would split the bill in half or whatever then say X amount on this card and X amount on the
2nd card. We're going to have 13 people at WDW in december with 4 different rooms. The dining cm told me we can tell the server how many TS come from which cards and which cards need to be charged as OOP.

I would think the tip would be able to go on the KTTW card as a charge. I can't imagine everyone carrying around cash for tips esp at the signature restaurants.

Currently, if you use the DDP and order something not included you can charge that back to your room. (drinks for example). I see the gratuity being handled the same way.

Here is your bill, you hand the room key, all done. We prefer to use the kttw card too. Makes it easier to have one itemized bill at the end of the stay.
