Graphing Calculators - Inexpensive Option

There was a thread or two previously about graphing calculators.

Just found an app for iphones/ipod touches that does this...and it's only 99-cents! The husband (engineer) took a look at it and said it was pretty good.

That's a VERY budget option if they already have the iphone/ipod

I bought my daughter a TI one in Sept (I want to say Ti84) for over $100 in Sept, and she says if she leaves it in school , the app on her ipod works very well. She's in Alg II.

The only problem with that is that at least at my high school adn at my college, it would never be allowed.

You would still need a TI for class because phones are not allowed out in school at my old high school and phones are not allowed out in class at my college.

I think it's great if you're not in school but if you need something liek that and you are not in school, you most likely need the real thing

I agree with the PP - if you are going to get this for someone (or yourself) to use at school - it will never work. In the academic world, you are best going with a TI (as a math teacher, I would recommend the 83 Plus or 84). But if you just need it for you - sounds like a GREAT deal.

As others have said, great idea except for in class - or especially on an exam. College instructors are not likely to allow a phone to be used during an exam!
