Grapevine closed?

We're up in Central CA and leaving tomorrow AM. The other day when I was traveling on the freeway the traffic signs were flashing that exact message. Anyone know if they are still? (I'm guessing not)

But if they are... how the heck do we get around it?! We usually just take 99 to 5 to Disneyland Dr . I don't need any extra stress when we're booking it to the happiest place on Earth!

When the grapevine is closed people usually try to come down Hwy One or 101. But since I used to live near Visalia, I find it very difficult to get to either of those freeways. I guess it depends on where you live.

Does the grapevine close often in the winter? I might have to fly in January if that is the case. Don't want to take a chance!

For road conditions try 1-800-427-ROAD (7623), that's the Department of Transporations number.

I couldn't find anything on their website other than closures for construction.

Another route from the central valley would be through the Cajon Pass. Plug "Cajon Junction" into your favorite route-finder and see if it saves you any time/distance vs US101.

They were escorting Sunday morning, but it wasn't bad, I think most of the weather has passed. 1800caltran I think is a number to call and also their website.

As far as an alternate route, you would have to go over 58 east to 14 south which adds 1.5 hours to the trip. I am not sure how the coastal route would be time wise, I think it would be longer though.

Grapevine is usually only closed for snow. And I don't think there is supposed to be any in the next few days.

To everyone......we drove the grapevine this morning and it was open and clear. Not even high winds. Not really any snow on the hills either. Just barely a cover of it to wonder if it was frost or snow. So get here!!!
