Grapefruit Cake

I know this is a dessert at DHS Brown Derby. If we do not have ADR or a meal there, can we get a slice of cake to go? Do any of the counter service restaurants around there serve slices?

P.S. I have searched snack threads,dining reviews, googled etc... but no real answer.

If I remember correctly, the bakery near the Brown Derby in DHS sells it by the slice.

mixed results - take out from the HBD is generally a no

getting a slice from starring rolls - they do not have it in the case, some have reported that they were able to special request it and someone would get it.

The only sure way to get it is to make an adr

We get a slice of Grapefruit Cake from Starring Rolls on every trip. If they do not have it in there case just ask about it and they will get you a slice from next door.

A few months back there was a thread started by someone who asked to buy a piece of grapefruit cake. He just walked up to the check in desk. He was told no, that the restauarant was a fine dining experience, not a take out place.

It was an interesting thread because this guy was so insulted that he thought he should get a free Disney vacation to make up for the "discriminatory" way he was treated. (Most agreed he was being ridiculous.)

So, its possible that you could get lucky and be able to buy a piece but more likely you would not. I would do what others have suggested, try at Starring Rolls.

I don't know the answer to your question but you can go into HBD & sit down just for cake & tea...we did!

I knew I had read somewhere - and I had even written it down where soeone had asked at a CS for a peice and they had got it- so I will now add Starring Rolls, and if I need to sit down to try this treat I will.

Thank you for the picture as well! It looks delicious- I have the recipe- but I want to try a real disney peice before I attempt to bake myself!

thanks for clarifying starring rolls, i know that i have read that before but never tried. Not a fan but i don't like grapefruit so that would explain that

Just FYI - if you go to Starring Rolls in the morning be prepared to wait - and have to find a place to sit! Last month one morning the line was wrapped out the entrance, through the small seating area & around the outdoor seating area of Hollywood Brown Derby...took a good 20-25 minutes to get through the line. And then there was absolutely no place to sit, we had to walk someplace else to eat!
