granite vs silestone countertops

The tiles we picked can be washed done, nothing can stain on them like spaghetti sauce, etc. That was a big thing for me considering how my DH cooks. :teeth:

I have a tumbled marble backsplash and the first time I splattered it with spaghetti sauce I about died. I was even more surprised when it all came off!!

I chalk that up to Stonetech sealer. :thumbsup2

Here's my bathroom with Absolute Black. I love it too! We have it on the vanity top, and as inserts in the travertine in the shower.

I love your bathroom - it looks great! We're trying to find a vanity bottom now, and we're having a difference of opinion so far. I like a white bottom, and DH wants light wood (like maple or birch). Hopefully we'll find a compromise soon so we can get the new vanity in!

We may have not gone with the silestone backsplace due to the kitchen guy telling us not to, either due to looks or cost, I don't remember. I know that I didn't want to have a wall space there since the old kitchen had a backsplash and I hated it.

For us, it's the cost. I love the look of it. Our kitchen designer has the Brazilian Brown with our cabinets already done at her shop. Then she ran it all the way up the wall to the cabinets as the backsplash, and it looks great. But basically, we'd be paying almost twice the amount of the money. It's just way cheaper to tile the backsplash - just can't decide on the colors.

We just moved in to a house with granite. I don't know the name but it is black. If I was going to put it in myself I was going to go with the silstone. But I am very happy with the granite. I bought a cleaner and resealer in one. It's by Stone Specific and I found it at Home Depot. It makes the granite shine and I don't have to remember to seal it.

We prefer granite over any type countertops.

We've had our granite for over 7 years now and it looks new!

Kona beige is what I am considering. It looks great!!
I'm excited. I love to bake and so anxious to get this done.
I have lived with tile for years and that is a PITA for baking and such.

I want to run the silestone up for the backsplash......I see one person mentioned doing it? Not too distracing.
My backsplash is now tile, the same as the countertop....I want to run it up to the bottom of the cabinets like it is now.
Good? Or no?

We are also getting the 4.5" backsplash with ours. The wall above will be painted to match the counter, eventually. We will need to do some sort of nice backsplash behind the stove, though, probably tile. I already have a special tile order in mind from online, too.:)
I had originally had the Amarillo Palmryia in mind, but when I got into Home Depot I liked the Kona Beige better. The Amarillo was just too yellow for our creamy white cabinets. If they had been in a stained finish, it probably would've been fine. But, I'm not much of a yellow person.:)
I can't wait to get ours in.
