Well we are 20ish days out from our cruise with Grandma and she broke her hip and cracked her pelvis yesterday. A month or so in the hospital and rehabilitation home. She is heart broken she can't go on our trip.

Thankfully we do have insurance and we haven't told the kids yet. Feel so bad going without her. Anyone ever have to cancel part of their trip before? She paid for all of it, so she is just expecting her portion refunded.

I have no experience with cancelling trips or parts of.....but just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear of your grandma's predicaments! Hopefully she will recover well and get to cruise again some day.

I feel awful for her. Any thoughts of just cancelling and rescheduling the entire trip to include her after she recovers?

My heart really goes out to you. What a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT for all. Hopefully Grandma will recover fully and you can plan a do-over in the near future. No experience with canceling part of a trip, just wanted to say how sorry I am you are facing this.

My mother-in-law canceled a week out. She was refunded the total cost of her cruise minus her insurance. We had adjoining rooms with our daughter in her room. Due to lifeboat limits, I couldn't move our daughter into our room(DH, DS and myself) even though there were enough beds. I moved my name to that room. Our son and daughter shared that room. It was great not to have to share a room with our teenage children!
