We have really good news about our grandbaby. The spinal fluid culture did not grow bacteria, but a virus. He has viral meningitis. If you have to have meningitis that is the one to have. I know they had to treat him as if he had bacterial meningitis especially since he is a newborn and his temp was 103 and he was lethargic. He looks good, his temp is down, and he is eating 3 ounces every 3 hours. He may go home tomorrow or Monday if his temp stays down and he is still doing well. Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts. I know those helped. I am so happy and thrilled that he gets to go home to Mama and Dada and big brother soon.

Thank you for the update, I have been thinking about your family since I saw this thread.
I pray he is home with his family very soon.
I know he is in good hands, those nurses and doctors are true angels.
My 5 month old grandson was born at 29 weeks and 3 pounds in Feb. these angels were incredible, I will never forget all the love, compassion skill and knowledge they showed to him and his new parents who were in a state of shock. He was there 47 days.

My oldest son had the viral meningitis when he was 4 weeks. It was very hard to see him being that ill, but today he it a very healthy 12 year old.
