Grand Villas at 7 mos

Planning a trip with friends for Oct 2016. There will be 8 of us, 4 adults and 4 kids (12-16yo). Our first choice is OKW because of the low points and central location (and DD wants a 2 story). We've stayed in an OKW 1bd and kids liked the resort. Should we be able to book that if I do it at exactly 7mos? Trying to decide on back-up plan. Assuming there's no way we'd get BWV at 7mos in Oct, right? We just stayed at AKV and loved it, but this is more a MK/EP trip. We'll have a car and could probably do a THV, but we've done that and it was great for a no-parks trip but not this one. Other ideas? We could maybe do a 2bd and a 1bd but not sure it would be as much fun.

My sis stays at GVs sometimes, and OKW is the only one she's been able to book 7 mos. out. October is dicy though, I believe. If you get one, it probably will not be near HH.

Oct would be hard time to get BWV. OKW you never know. I think you can do a search for availably with GV on this site. Someone has a great detailed info on chances of availably and the resort. I am looking at GV for 2016 as well. But it will be November. The Thursday or Wensday the week prior to thanksgiving and we will head out the Wed before thanksgiving

October is the second highest DVC demand month of the year behind December. You will have no chance for BWV. Less than a 50% chance at OKW. SSR will most likely be open all month. AKV Kidani is your second best chance but even it can be missing some days during the extremely high demand times in Oct -- the Thurs before Columbus Day weekend to the Tuesday of the weekend after that.

We book grand villas with some regularity and find that OKW really must be booked at 11 months. Saratoga Springs, Kidani, and BLT lake view seem to be most often available at 7 months.

Thanks for the info, everyone! We actually own at SSR and have never stayed there (except the THV). I may go ahead and book a GV there at 11mos, then we'll see what's still open at 7mos. Only issue is that SSR will require borrowing points (OKW would not), but we can deal with that. DD11 has it in her mind that she does NOT want to stay at SSR, but I have no idea why. She likes the pools there.

I think that is the best game plan. SSR is a beautiful resort and you said you will have a car so I do not see a problem if you cannot get in at OKW. I have only stayed in the GV at BLT and it was awesome! The best part was all being together and the room to spread out. I have seen the GV at SSR when they were actively selling the resort and I was wowed! Enjoy.

We own at SSR too, I always book it at the 11 month window and then call at the 7 month. We were able to change to BWV GV at the 7 month window for January. There were others still available too. So go for it! Just FYI the SSR Grand Villas are AMAZING!!
