I'm taking my parents, my sister's family and my family to WDW in December. I've booked a GV at the BWVs and I asked to have the handicap room because both my parents have very bad knee problems and I never know if they will be walking or not.

Can anyone tell me if the master bathroom still also has the nice tub? I want to prepare my husband in advance if it does not. I don't need any pouting on the trip.

Thanks::yes::

I would think so - even in the 1 and 2 bedroom when you request handicapped - the shower is the problem - no doors - shower curtains and it leaks all the place

you also might be short some of the storage place in the kitchen - you have to able to roll a wheelchair under everything - so they cut out some of the storage space.

We have stayed in a handicapped GV at BWV. The master has a king bed, spa tub, and a handicapped shower. I think one of the other bedrooms is handicapped but I don't rememeber for sure. The GV faced the boardwalk and was just great. It had several balconies and lots of chairs to sit and watch the activity. I know at least one of the other bedrooms has a tub. If you need wheelchairs, you can ask at the desk and they can give you one or two, whatever you need. We have gotten 2 before. They take a credit card if case you don't return it, but it is free to use while you are there. You can even take it to the park. If you have a handicapped sticker you can park very close and with the wheelchairs it is very easy to take handicapped people into WDW. As stated the shower curtain is not very good for keeping water off the floor but it works for us. It has a seat you can sit down on so it is very good for those with problems. Hope you have a great trip and you family does too. You will love the GV's at BWV. They are very nice as are all the GV's at WDW!!!

You may not need a wheelchair accessible room for bad knees. My FIL has bad knees and bad hips. It's too much walking for him in the parks, but most people with bad knees are going to be able to walk around the room if they "save" their knees by using a wheelchair or a scooter. If you do end up with a roll in shower room, you will still have a whirlpool tub in the master bedrrom as Merilyn mentioned.
If you are interested in in having wheelchairs or scooters for them, you can follow the link in my signature to get to the disABILITIES Board and then look for the disABILITIES FAQ at the top of the board. There is also information there about transportation to the parks and parking ( you actually might be better off not parking in the handicapped lot if you don't have a wheelchair or scooter with you since there is no tram service to the park entrance from the handicapped parking.

Thank you to all who replied. It looks like my parents and my husband will be happy.

And thank you for the link about transportation. I'd just started thinking about what to do. With my dad--it seems stairs are the major issue.
