anyone know if any actors form the movies will be at the grand opening or if there are any press releases of any grand opening ceremonies please fill us in???

I was also wondering what will make the grand opening so special. Way back in January, I booked June 19-24 (thinking the grand opening was in May). Now, I am afraid it will be a MADHOUSE and I should re-book for another time......

Quoted for truth. I can't wait to see the news and maybe helicopter views of the crowds...I honestly think Universal should plan on some extra areas, like tents or something for guests to see harry potter related stuff, because the area and shops just aren't very big from what I can tell.

I wonder if it might be SLIGHTLY better before the 18th?? We bought the 7 day passes back in November, before they ever offered the HP package deal...and my poor child is DYING to be there on her birthday...we could go at the beginning of June and hope everything will be open.....

Ugh. I am trying to believe that maybe all the crowds and excitement will be an adventure-filled, memorable moment, but I don't think I'm buying it

if the actors will be there on the grand opening i will be there because my mother is a huge fan and she will make us go with her. but if she doesnt we will wait til september when school gets back in. i would MUCH rather see it when noones there

Me! I arrive June 21st as well, and plan to ask for whatever room Alan Rickman just checked out of.

The last few days have put me in a bit of a confused fugue. First I got all giddy about the details of HP&FJ. Then excited that I was luckily booked after June 18th so didn't have to worry about the whole "will we get in?" drama. Then worried that since I'm booked only days after the grand opening, the crowds will be even worse than originally planned (and I had planned for them to be bad already - I suspect the parks may reach capacity each day we're there. sooo glad I'm staying at RPR and early entry). Then sad I'm going to miss Alan Rickman (and some of the others) by only a couple of days. (Actually, maybe its a good thing I won't get to see them all in person. Might get kicked out for falling to my knees screaming "we're not worthy" and bowing at the feet of JKR. And my friends wouldn't like it if I spent the day in "let's keep an eye open for HP stars with our cameras at the ready" mode, instead of just enjoying the park.)

So Pink Flamingo, keep an eye out for a grown woman wearing a Snape themed t-shirt (I have four for the trip) with her friend and two kids, all of us humming HP songs, skipping through Hogsmeade, crying happy tears, and taking pictures of everything. That should narrow your choices to about 500 of us or so...hehe

That should narrow your choices to about 500 of us or so...hehe

I'll definitely be on the lookout for you ~ I'm sure you won't be hard to spot at all - ha! ha! We'll be staying at RPR too, so perhaps I'll be able to spot you easier there than I will in Hogsmeade.

Our family is there from 6/18 - 6/21. I'm kind of looking forward to the crowds and buzz around the grand opening. I'm not really concerned about it because we'll have FOTL at most other attractions anyway.

DH and I took off work also and are planning to spend one night on property to get FOL access. It will be a madhouse but it should be great fun!
