Ok peeps its grand national weeked!!!!

whos having a flutter apart from me lol

Im going with amberleigh house, and forest guner lol for a laugh

or do we have any serious horse racers here?

its the only bet I ever make (though I dont like the thought of the horses being hurt)

I'll be placing a few each way bets for the family and me :teeth: no idea of which horses I will be backing yet until the papers come out on Saturday morning with the pull-outs in :)

I don't do much gambling but this is a potentially lucrative weekend with both the US Masters Golf and the Grand National on

The one race of the year I always have a flutter on, :thumbsup2 and the only day of the year I go into a bookies :teeth: I was born on Grand National day :)

Didn't even know it was this weekend

I will be having my usual flutter, waste of time though as it usually falls at the first.

my friend looks forward to this every year---- their Bookmakers LOL.
but i might just have a bet even though they advise me against it

We'll be doing our usual each way bet for everyone.
Troops have done not bad, whereas I expect my choice to fall at the first fence :teeth:

Personally I wont bet on the grand national as I dont like the horses getting hurt.

The girls at work always have a flutter, we normally go for names that kind of mean something to us. I have picked Silver birch (I have one in my garden), Lord of Illusion (just liked the name), World Wide Web (Fiance works in computer support), Be My Better Half (getting married) and Innox (not sure why).

Good luck to everyone this is having a flutter this weekend. :Pinkbounc

I've got my horse picked out, Ebony Light, but I don't know if I'll be able to get to a bookies tomorrow (even if I got up the nerve) and I'm too nervous to register to a betting site online. Any tips from those of you with your bets placed?

Go to the bookies-on National Day its full of bewildered girlies looking for help. Most of the chains (Corals, William Hill, Ladbrokes) even have dumdum betting slips for you to complete on the big day ( You know-tick a box for horsey name, tick a box for amount of bet, tick a box for each way)-Foolproof!

I looked for something with a disney connection but couldn't find anything.

I've picked Silver Birch in the sweepstake at work and have also picked a few other horses and had a £1 e/w bet on them :)

Did not know it was on this weekend. Usually when i pick up the courage i try and have a flutter, no idea what to do, tend to just choose and put on £1 each way. Never win.

I'm doing a sweepstake at work - I pulled out "Just in Debt". No idea if he is any good though!

My dad owns and races horses as a hobby and is part of a community that believes the horses thoroughly enjoy the racing element.

Horse racing is barbaric and only exists for the purpose of gambling. Whilst I don't have a problem with people want to give bookmakers their money for little or no return, I've never been happy with the idea of animals being used.

So no, I won't be having a bet!

i didnt open this thread for a debate on whether its cruel or not,

I was wanting to ask people who WERE betting on it, what theyre doing

if it going to turn into a debate we might as well close it now

i won a few quid on hedgehunter last year :thumbsup2 ive gone for jack high at 14-1 this year :thumbsup2
dh has gone for clan royal

we register with an internet site that gives you a free bet so we can double our stake from £5 each to £10 !!

good luck everyone x x

Good luck everyone. We are going out for the day but will get back in time for the national to see if any of our horses win :)
