no money won in the longstaff household the bookies made £12 out of us this year

at least my horse (hedgehunter) finished, dh had point barrow and it fell at the 1st fence

I didnt win anything but Vicki had the winner from the sweepstake in work and won £20.00

I got Celtic son in the sweepstake at work, so did my MIL. No winners here either, not sure who DH got but it fell anyway.

I placed £24 worth of £1 each way bets this year...Got the winner, and also 3rd place. I think I'll get back around £53.

Strange thing about this race is that I hate to see any of the horses get hurt, but I dont mind seeing a Jockey go flying off and get trampled on....

This was the first year for a while that I didn't place a bet. Out of fun DW and I chose a horse each - typical, I chose the third placed horse.

DH got first (33/1) and fourth (100/1) - he didn't study form or anything - just picked the names - Silver Birch - because we had just been debating whther the tree in our new house was one. The 'Philson' - the 100/1 shot because his name is Phil - put a pound each way on both and netted £70. Mine fell at the first!
