Has anyone booked an event through the grand gatherings? I've been trying to call the Grand Gatherings number but don't get connected. I also would appreciate feedback on grand gatherings planning.

I've booked a few things through the program and for the most part unless you are going for one of the
GG special activities, I'm not sure it is worth it. I had booked Hoop-de-doo prior to attempting the GG Wishes cruise (it was already closed for our dates) so I booked a specialty birthday Wishes cruise instead. If you are staying at a DVC resort, you must ask for a DVC CM working with GG.

Good Luck!

We booked the International Dinner and Illuminations with GG in December. We had a nice time, not stellar but nice. Since we had 13+ people for many of our meals, we had to get PS through group dining.

Could you tell me what the International Dinner and Illuminations GG was? What do you get for dinner, were is it held? Were do you see Illuminations from?
Thanks! :flower:

The dinner was held in the Odyssey Restaurant, it is on the left just before you enter the WS from, say Test Track. Most people know where that is if you tell them there's a first aid station in the building. It's a buffet, with food from all of the countries represented in the WS, and there are some chefs there cooking some of the dishes.

Roz, the MC was very good, a vivacious hostess who made us all, and my mom in particular, feel welcome and special.

Minnie and Santa Goofy came for pictures.

The Illuminations viewing area was close to the store that's right at that entrance to WS. What we didn't like was there was no seating, it was stand up next to the rail, and push and shove atmosphere, even though it was just the people from the dinner. Nothing special there and that was a major disappointment, they bill it as VIP viewing. It was a good angle, but not VIP in my opinion, which I did tell to a customer relations person who said they would consider my input, hopefully they will change that.

As I began typing this my DS, 27 called. :goodvibes (He lives in Venezuela so we don't see or hear from him that often), and he was at the dinner and mom's birthday GG. I told him what I was responding to, and he asked if I was saying how the entertainment was lame, and the meal was only so-so. I told him I would say that, because I too, thought that it was not worth the $59 per person that it cost.

I must be fair and say mom loved the event. The deserts were very special and delicious. It was very cold on our night, and so perhaps things were done differently. I thought the deserts were to be served outside, and if that were the case, maybe there would have been tables to sit at. I would have appreciated hot chocolate or coffee or something in the cold.

It was mom's choice, it was her celebration, and our pictures are wonderful. I have one with me dancing with the above mentioned DS, and that's priceless!

I hope you have a great GG, we did! The most helful of the CM for GG that I dealt with was Buster, I remember his name because it's also my dog's!!
