I was considering a move from the Del Sol to the Desert Inn, but I'm now considering Grand Legacy instead. For anyone who's stayed there, how are the mattresses? I've heard that the rooms in the front tower are nicer but are extremely noisy because of the rooftop bar. Would you recommend staying in the building in the back? TIA! :)

We’ve stayed at the Grand Legacy twice this summer and loved it. Both times we were in a premier queen room which is at the back of the property facing the pool. Could hear the music from the rooftop bar only when we opened the door.

We have a memory foam mattress at home and I usually find that regular spring mattresses hurt my hips but I was very comfortable in the beds at the Grand. It’s clean, it’s close and we will try to stay here whenever we can.

There are definitely lovers and haters of Grand Legacy, which has always given me pause, so I haven't stayed there. There seems to be huge differences in the rooms. Some are remodeled, some not. Those who luck out and get the nicer rooms are likely those who give positive reviews. As far as the noise from the bar, I could clearly hear it inside my room on the 5th floor at DI&S recently. If it's that loud at a neighboring property, I can only imagine how loud it is if you're closer. I'm all fairness though, I only noticed the noise on the weekends.

I was looking to book a premier queen room, so that's good to know about not being able to hear the music.

Yikes on being able to hear the music from DI&S. I'm leaning towards Grand Legacy, but am hoping if we stay but don't stay in the front tower that it would be okay.

I stayed two years ago in one of the rooms in back. It was fine, it’s a motel, but the beds are comfy and it was clean. It’s also a really easy walk to the gates. I’d stay again if the price was right.

I stayed in a Premier Queen room for 3 nights in May. It was great. Beds were great. All 3 of my nights were weeknights and I didn't hear music at all. It was just me and my 2 year old daughter. We closed the park every night and it was always so quiet going back to the motel. Not a soul in sight and no noise whatsoever. It was almost creepy that we never saw anyone else or heard any noise. I would for sure stay there again. They have some great flash sales.

I have stayed there probably 5-6 times in the last two years, never had a single issue. I have always requested to be away from the main building and have never had any noise issues. I have stayed in the room closest to the lobby in the side building and heard nothing from the street or the nightclub. I always have issues with hotel beds and I felt their beds to be fine, every room I have been in has been renovated and I have been in every wing of the outbuildings.

We (2 adults, 3 kids) end up staying at the Grand Legacy a lot since they usually are the cheapest of the "acceptable" motels along Harbor. The rooms often get cheaper closer to our trips. We're going in Mid-August and had Hojos reservations but checked yesterday and found that GL was cheaper since they have free parking as part of the AP deal now. So we made a reservation for GL since it was around $50 less for our 3 night stay.

I've stayed at the Grand Legacy twice in the last year. Both times I chose the absolute cheapest room they had available. (Which, I think, is the regular 'double bed' room.) Neither of them were updated, and the mattresses weren't the most comfortable, but not terrible, either. For what I look for in a hotel (close proximity, clean) it fit the bill.
Between the Del Sol and Grand Legacy, I'd probably go with whichever one was cheaper.

Thanks for the replies. I just made the switch from Del Sol to Grand Legacy. The cost was basically the same but I think we might like Grand Legacy a little better even if it's slightly farther than Del Sol.

I too stayed in their cheapest room, the 2 double beds. I have a nice mattress at home with a pillow top, and I found the beds at Grand Legacy to to comfortable. But, when you walk 10 miles+ a day in the parks, I could probably sleep on any bed. My room was clean, quiet and everything I need in a hotel room when I'm at Disneyland. I usually pick the cheapest hotel within walking distance, because honestly, I don't spend much time in my hotel room.
