Grand Gatherings

How many people do you need to plan a "grand gathering"? Has anyone here been on one of these types of Disney trips? What are the differences between booking this or just booking a group of hotel rooms?

This type of trip sounds interesting and I'm considering asking more of our family if they are interested. HOwever, my brother is in an electric wheelchair and my mom is ill, so the hotel would have to be accessible and not too far from the parks just incase mom needed to return quickly.

Please share your experiences, opinion, suggestions, anything!!!
