My apologies if this is easier to find but I have been scouring unrelated posts for two days in the search function.. I must be doing it wrong! lolI did post about this on the trip planning board but never received any response.. hoping to have better luck here.. :)

I am looking for any and all info on the Grand Gathering Private Safari and dinner.. The Dinner at Tusker House is served family style.. is it different than the buffet I am used to there (which I love)? Which Characters attend the dinner? Is the Safari the same as the one you normally take at AK? What are the "friendly" animals you view and when and where does that take place.. finally is it worth it!?? We are all adults (well kids over 10 except 2) so a bit pricey and I want to be sure.. Thank you even if you just have a link to my answer!

Really no one has done this?? Darn! I was hoping to not have to book this blind :)

Thanks for the reply! I did find the run down on wdwinfo but was hoping for a personal experience. I did book it so I guess I will have to post a review :)

Please do post your review - I have been looking all over disboards for reviews/info. Of course, I also could be searching incorrectly....;)
Have a great vacation!

We did this about 1.5 years ago and I highly recommend it. The food was excellent and I am extremely picky, there is something for everyone. I believe beer and wine was extra. The safari itself is not the same it is slower and longer than the "ride" so you get a chance to see more as you spend more time out in the park and go slower. It is also less crowded as the park is closed. There is a lot of music before and after dinner that is really great, lots of kids (adults too!) dancing and having a great time. Character wise if I remember correctly it was the monkies for Lion King but don't quote me on that. It was not the focus of the evening though so if that is really important to you it might be a little disappointing. The focus is African hospitality, food, music and dance. Really, really cool. I would not pass it up.

Thank you for your review! Just what I hoped to hear :) Now all I need are some pictures and I'll have my desire to pre-live this all worked out lol

We did this last year when I took my Kids and grand kids there were 11 of us and we had a blast. The safari was slower and a little different than the regular one. We had kids from 4-50 and we all had great time. We will probably do it again next year when everyone goes again. This year it is just me my DH and one DD and DGS,so no grand gathering.
