Can you tell me about your GG experiences? I'm specifically interested in the Animal Kingdom dinner/safari and the Tony's breakfast.

Are they worth it?

How was the booking process (i.e. do I need my sisters reservation # to book it, or can I do it on my own - all together we will be a party of 10)?

Are they still doing the fireworks cruise?

Thank You!!!

(wow. 3 years of lurking and I post 2 questions today... weird :))

They do not do the Fireworks Cruise anymore for Grand Gatherings. I just booked the Illuminations for Oct 15....the other 2 events were already booked up. Havent done any before but have read reviews and they sound fun.

We actually did the Animal Kingdom Safari/dinner back in Jan. '08 with another family, so there were 8 of us. We had a great time, but I think because the safari started a little late (we think around 5 or 6pm) we didn't see a lot of animals. The dinner was a lot of fun, singing, dancing and the food was really good. All in all, we were glad we tried it, but we would try another GG next time, only because we already did this one.

We did Tony's breakfast 2 years ago- LOVED IT!!!! Good food and fantastic character interaction.

We also did Tony's and thought it was worth every penny.

The food was surprisingly fresh for feeding sooo many at once. The kids had lots of time with each of the characters and it was very well organized. Tony does a little entertaining and when we went we also received pins.

I would definately do this GG event again!

We did the safari last August with 13 of us. The safari really is not any different then what you go on during the day. The biggest difference is that they do not tell the "story line" as you drive through. It is supposed to be slower, but the truck behind us, stayed right on us the whole time,so we went at about the same speed.

Tusker House was alot of fun. The food was good. The animal experiences were limited, I think two; and there was two charachters. The line for the buffet was long. The desserts were not good; very boring.

I am listing the negatives, but overall we all had a good time. The kids loved the music and the entertainment. While I am glad we did it, and have good memories, I wouldn't do it again. It was a one time deal for us.

As far as booking it, there is a separate booking process. they will take your information and then call you back the next day with a GG # that you need to use when you make any reservations.

Good luck and hope you have a good time!

Has anyone done the Illuminations dinner and dessert? How was the food at Odyssey? We have some picky eaters in our group so I want to make sure there is enough to appeal to everyone. I am sure they change the characters at the dinner, but who was at ones in the past?

Thanks :)
