Grand Gathering Experience

We are going to SSR this June and will be a total of 12 people. I noticed on the DDP that we can be part of the Grand Gathering Experience which I hadn't noticed the last time we went.

Question: Have any of you done the International Dinner and Dessert Reception at EPCOT? MY DH loves Illuminations so he really wants to try this. How was it? And How easy is this to book? I know that it is two TS pp.

We did the dinner several years ago and thought it was great. I think at the time there were about 20 of us. I loved the desserts.

I thought I read on the Restaurant board that there have been some changes to the dinner. We had a buffet and someone posted that they heard it was going to family style. I would also ask about the dessert selection. We did the Wishes Cruise this past October and were very dissapointed in the desserts. A group of us went a couple of years ago and the desserts were outstanding. This time all we had was some fruit and some prepackaged stuff (like pretzels, brownies, etc.).

As I remember it was fairly easy to book however none of us used the dining plan.

We did the Int'l Dinner on Dec. 7. We had a lot of fun. It was a dinner buffet...the food was good. The reserved spot to watch Illuminations was excellent. We were on the dining plan.....it was easy to book and use the DP.

Thanks for your responses. We figure it is worth it for the viewing location for Illuminations alone.
