Grand Gathering ADR before package booked?

We are planning a trip in January for 12 people and I am hoping to do the Tony's grand gathering breakfast. Our ADR time comes up in July but we probably won't book our package until the pricing comes out this summer (August, I think). Is it possible to book a grand gathering event when you haven't booked your vacation package yet?

No, to be a Grand Gathering, you have to have a room booked. 80% of your group must be staying at a Disney resort, so I can't imagine they will book an event for you if you don't have a reservation yet.

Agreed....it wouldn't be fair to allow someone to make an ADR without a reservation when everyone else was required to book a reservation and pay their deposit prior to booking ADRs.

Do you know if it is possible to book a package before next years rates come out? I thought I had read that they don't allow you to book for next year until August and since our ADR window would open up in July I don't want to miss out on this event, it sounds like fun and I know the kids in our party would really enjoy it.

Does anyone know how popular these are or if they book up quickly? If we can't get a reservation here I will probably try Chef Mickeys, this just sounded like it had more interaction.
