I read that they are planning a refurb starting this November. Any idea when it may finish? Or where they may send guests with reservations there during that time?

I'm a little surprised at this. I stayed at VGF last month in both a studio, then a 1 BR. Both villas seemed much "fresher" than some other studios I've been in recently. Sometimes I wish DVC would do their refurbishments based on need, rather than a set schedule.

Disney is going to convert one building of hotel rooms into Villas for DVC guests. Disney will be selling more timeshare points for the Grand Floridian.

VGF is actually a year behind the normal schedule. I suspect some rooms are in better condition than others, but it's only practical to refurbish all villas at the same time.

Not a refurb they are adding 200 studio rooms by converting a building to DVC rooms

They are doing both: refurbishing the existing villas and adding more.

The original VGF was scheduled for a soft goods refurb (minor refresh) this year. It may have been pushed back until 2022 but it was announced at last year's condo association meeting for 2021.

I don’t know if this is old news but a CM in the DVC villas told me the TVs in the bathroom mirrors are being removed in the refurb. I came down to ask him about an issue I was having with mine and he said they are very problematic. He gave no timeline about the refurb.

Those things were a complete and utter waste of money. Many guests probably never realized they were there, and for those who did, they were tricky to control even when they worked. And of course in the smartphone era they are basically superfluous. Good riddance.

The one in the master bath in our 2 bedroom lake view didn’t work. It would turn on you would see a picture for 1/2 second then go black.

So I was reading something about this starting in November? Will this be completed by June 2022 do we think?

There has been no word of how long the refurb will actually take. The adding of the Murphy beds that pull down from the wall over the couch will likely extend the time needed. Also. typically when DVC does a refurb, it does not do the whole resort at the same time. For a single-building resort like VGF, it likely will do half a floor at a time, while the rest of the resort remains open. If they are starting in Nov, it is doubtful everything will be done by April.

I've used them every time and it's always worked. I like them a lot and would wish that the news they are being taken out is incorrect.

We bought VGF in 2013 and it has not had a refurb and many of the rooms (especially the studios) are really showing wear. I was told, when we were there a couple of years ago, that VGF has the highest occupancy of all of the DVC properties, so it's very difficult to not only honor room requests, but more importantly repair issues. When we were staying there in May, I responded to the email from the manager with a list of issues with our studio (as I said in my email, nothing major, just things they might want to take care of before the next guest, and they were welcome to send staff in to make the repairs during the day while we were out of the room). Within 5 minutes, the night manager called our room wanting to move us right then; they had a room that was unexpectedly available and if they had the 3 days we were booked, they could correct everything. We moved early the next morning and I can only guess that they replaced the broken hinge and missing glass in the kitchenette, the bathroom locks that didn't lock or keep the doors closed and whatever else I mentioned. The very interesting part of my conversation with the manager was thanking me for letting them know of the issues, so very often guests break something or find something broken and never report it. Housekeeping is running full bore and miss a lot of breakage.

Disagree. We stayed one night in June and the studio we stayed in was in rough shape.
