We checked into BLT today and were told that this morning it was announced that the resort monorails will be shut down every day from 11:00 am - 6:00 pm until further notice. Loosely kept unconfirmed rumor that GFV getting its own monorail stop....

This is HOT off the presses as the daily resort monorail shutdown was just announced to cast members this morning. They have been told "it's due to construction."

I was there recently and bought into Grand Floridian and actually checked out the building and tne GFV are right next to the Wedding Pavilion, I mean right next door so a monorail stop right there wouldnt look right but anything is possible with Disney so who knows. Disney can work magic with just a little bit of pixie dust (lol). :-)

There could be a lot of reasons that would be covered by "due to construction" - including work on some of the the monorail cars & engines behind the scenes. Maybe they just have to move construction equipment (from the VGF or the expanded bus terminal or to put up Holiday decorations) and do not want the monorail running while they do so for safety reasons.

I don't see how a monorail station for the GFV could be happening - that would have been planned for from the beginning, not done as an afterthought. None of the existing permits even hint at such a thing, and a new station could not be built without permits.

We are staying in BLT 2 bedroom theme park view for the next few
Days so we will be watching it... I wonder why they are doing it daily "until further notice" and why they are closing down just the resort monorails and not the MK express monorail... Interesting

Y'all just bought into GFV? Did you get a specific week? My parents were just on the DVC member cruise last week and said that GFV owners will be able to reserve the same week each year

Agree. Not only that but logistically adding a stop there would slow down the entire resort loop as a train would travel a very short distance from VGV before it had to stop again at the GF.

sure when you call 11 months out the same time each year you'll get the same week.

sorry couldn't resist

You can choose to do that for a 10% point premium but owners don't need to do that- no more than 35% of the resort will be for set weeks.

Aulani and VGF do have a guaranteed week option for 10% additional points.

I know- i was making my observation of what i think the worth of that is. probably wasn't as funny as it was in my head. ;)

The cost to add a stop for VGF doesn't make "cents", it's a very small resort. DVD would be advertising the benefit if they were adding a stop for VGF.

This type of interruption usually is due to beam removal to allow something to pass where the beams are blocking the path. The last shutdown of this type was to allow for craines and construction material to be moved to the VGF site.

They might be removing something from the VGF site or adding something to the Poly staging site.

We bought a week 49, 1 bedroom lake view contract. We can either do nothing and they auto book the week for us or we can book the week ourselves and save some points, or book a different size room with the VGF points, or use the points to book somewhere else at 7 months.

Not disagreeing with this but wondering why only the resort loop is down. The express (and Epcot) loops will be running as usual. Perhaps the electrical bus-bar is on the side of the resort loop facing the construction?

There is a signal problem on the Resort Beam. It has been causing the trains to receive a red signal in error which requires them to stop and then Control actually do a reset before the train can move at all.

This has been in effect for a few days now and it is driving the technical people crazy.

What's worse is it is an intermittent problem, and anyone who has ever been an electronics technician knows that an intermittent problem is the hardest to diagnose and repair.

I don't remember what the did when they took it down for VGF. I remember seeing beams missing.

They are working on a Train Control Modernization Project, maybe that's it.

Thanks CF, the truth is welcome. :thumbsup2
