Grand Floridian v Poly

We have stayed at both and my 12 year old loves GF. We get our hair done at the salon and do afternoon tea. The rooms are equally nice at both. Club level is amazing at GF, ok at Poly. Both have great dining options. You really can't go wrong with either one.

I agree that both are great choices. Also, it is a good idea to look at videos with your daughter and let her choose.

Be aware that nearly all rooms at the GF have balconies/patios, however some rooms (about 1/3, second floor) at the Poly open to a railing.

We like both about equally. Along with the CR, these resorts are part of a three way tie for the best in WDW, IMO.

Enjoy!!!

We have stayed at both and my favorite is the GF, I just loved everything about it. My 13 year old liked it to but her favorite is the Poly.

I agree with PP's go with whichever theme you think you'd prefer or do a split stay. We have stayed at both, and the GF is our favorite resort. Stayed at GF this past December with my 8yo daughter, and she loved it. We loved the Poly too, and would stay there again in a heartbeat, one thing I did not like there was no balcony, and I thought the room at the GF felt bigger. But really you can't go wrong with either one.
You did not have a balcony at the Poly? We stayed there for two nights and had a balcony. That was one of the most enjoyable aspects of the room. Planning on staying there again next summer but want to make sure I have a balcony!

Second floor rooms do not have balconies at the Poly. I just was in a second floor room in Samoa last week and no balcony. The sliding door opened to a railing.

Now, I do believe second floor rooms in the DVC part of Poly have balconies but I could be wrong. I'm sure someone will come along and let you know for sure.

No we didn't... I think as PP said... 2nd floor rooms don't have them. I did request a 3rd floor room during online check in & a different building. I did love our room location though so I just lived with it.

My favorite by far is the GF! Poly has the edge for transportation, though, since you can walk to the TTC. I don't like how crowded the Poly is with so many people visiting for ceremonial dinner, Ohana and now Trader Sams. I just prefer how serene and open GF feels and looks. But I think you'll be happy no matter which way you go!

We recently stayed at the Poly and my 11 year old loved it. But, when we walked over to GF to look around - she was in love! She definitely wants to stay there for our next visit. She does tend to like places that feel "fancy."
