Grand Floridian Tea

I have heard some things about the Grand Floridian Tea and I have some questions. Can it be a full meal or is it more of a snack? I am traveling with someone with severe nut allergies, will she have a problem with the selections? Are the selections a la carte? And about the dress code, do people tend to dress nicer then they would for a day at the parks?

I had a wonderful experience at tea last year and look forward to doing it again! It was certainly filling - I had the Buckingham Palace tea ($17.50), which consisted of 5 or 6 small tea sandwiches, scones and jam tarts, strawberries and cream for "dessert" and, of course, tea. I chose the Garden View specialty tea, which was available for sale at the tearoom, and I have wished many times since that I'd bought a year's supply - delicious!

Most restaurants today are very aware of nut allergies and upfront about answering customers' questions regarding ingredients. Maybe someone else on the board can tell you where to call in advance for this info (I'm pretty sure WDW-DINE wouldn't be your best bet).

You can order a la carte items, if you wish. As for the dress code - there didn't seem to be one the afternoon I was there. Some ladies were there in skirts or sundresses, with hats, but others were in park attire. I had hoped to get back to my room to change before tea after getting caught in a downpour at Epcot, but the monorail had a 20-minute delay and I had to go as I was - not my best, certainly, but the staff was perfectly warm and welcoming anyway.

We use the tea as a late lunch, we usually get the Grand Tea and go out of their stuffed! We usually are in park attire when we go, but I wear a nicer polo shirt and shorts that day.

The tea is entirely up to you. You can go ala'carte'! and order each individual item or you can order the pre-fixed "tea's". You can even order extra's like cheese trays, etc... for snacks.
Dress: I've seen everything, from dresses to swim cover-ups. So park attire to nice short out fits are fine. Some ladys once where all dressed up in there sunday dresses with hats, with gloves. They looked great, but I don't usually pack that much.

They tea is great, have a "grand" time. MKY

I did this with my mom in September
it was great you can order from a menu that has alacarte menu or you can order certain teas that come with sandwiches and then pastries
it was soo onice the china is amazing
the service was great
we did it 3 times
if you order a full tea it can be a meal

I have severe nut allergies and have taken tea there many times. I've never had a problem.

Personally, we prefer to dress up a bit more than typical park attire. DH wears chino's and a collared shirt, and I usually wear either a very casual dress or slacks and a blouse. Resort wear type of attire.

IMHO bathing suits and coverups is VERY underdressed for this event (but then again IMHO they belong one place, poolside, and no where else), nicer walking shorts and a collared shirt would about as casual as I would suggest.

Depending on what you order, it can be very filling or just a snack.

Ducklite: I agree, I didn't think the coverup was a good idea either and they weren't in my party. We usually wear nice dress shorts and a dressier blouse. I was mearly stating the wide range of fashion I have witnessed at the tea's we have been to. I hope you didn't think we were sitting in our swim suits in the gf. sipping tea. (Not that there is anything wrong with that) .
